From what I understand he approached us and we didn't even make an offer.
Deplorable if that's the case.
I've heard differently.

I read that the titans signed him for 100 thousand dollars in his first year, could this be true?
did we even approach matty rogers?
He won't move from the Goldy and contrary to what some on here think we never offered him a dime ( but I agree maybe we should have) but he won't move back here , he has it too good up there surfing every day with parko and deano

i think that is correct, as he walked away from rugby, but the tits were in cap pressure, im certain he didnt sign for his market value

quite possibly
At the time he'd had some injuries and seemed kinda washed up as well. They've been pretty lucky with him to be honest. He also really wanted to settle on the Gold Coast, so he would have accepted less from them than anyone else.
Hopefully we'll get a similar outcome with Best.:glasses-cool:

ARU gives Mat blessing and praise

September 13, 2006
THE Australian Rugby Union has described dual international Mat Rogers' return to rugby league as a personal and lifestyle choice and today praised him for not attempting an inter-code bidding war.
Rogers told Wallabies coach John Connolly and ARU chief executive Gary Flowers of his decision to accept a deal with new NRL club Gold Coast from 2008 before last night's John Eales Medal awards dinner in Sydney.
It appears to suit everyone.
Rogers will still get to play at next year's Rugby World Cup in France where he is an important player in the Wallabies' plans to reclaim the crown.
But he'll then be 31, and after several injury-hampered seasons, would probably struggle to command the reported $650,000 a year he's been earning as the Wallabies begin a fresh cycle toward the 2011 World Cup.

He will be paid an estimated $300,000 a year at the Gold Coast – less than half his $650,000-a-season rugby union salary.

It is understood Rogers will receive $300,000 a year from the Titans – a massive drop from the $650,000 he was paid for being a Wallaby.
