Oh, and btw, I'm a big fan of unity but not so much of people who steal other people's ideas and work and parade them as their own.

You still going on about this even though he named him in the ceremony last week as being a massive part of why it (development) is where it is.

Lose the chip man.

To my mind, for.most of his time here fitz has easily been the most intelligently positive poster. And active in making positive change happen.

Check his post history if you don't believe me.

How would people like to have a thread where they actually contribute their ideas in as much detail as they think necessary and we send it to the bloke?

He intimated that there would be some community forums in the next few months but many posters here aren't local.

He seems like he's got an open mind and really wants to hear supporters' thoughts.
good idea
I also hope these forums aren't solely held during the week

Fair call Fitz . I also enjoy your posts and you no doubt have inside insights that most of us really do appreciate .
I was juz having a dig . Unity did steal heaps of thunder , I too understand how much effort and passion the previous board put in to get us to the happy place we now find ourselves . Good to hear you wrap Unity too . Never thought I'd see that from you . Hats off mate.

You mis-read me.

I am a huge supporter of unity... not Unity.

Just like I am a liberal but would never vote Liberal.

I'll back that. I remember from when fitz joined in here he was probably accused of being too positive. If I'm not mistaken he was a driving force (if not the one who kicked it off) behind a 'Believe' campaign and many other initiatives to promote a positive feel among the Sharks fanbase.

I do sense you've soured a little since I been back though, fitzy. Which sucks as an ordinary fan cause I'd bank that you've got good reasons which the rest of us aren't privvy too and that can't be good for our Sharkies.

I caught that too. I think he opened up in person fan forums at the Wanderers, but he's obviously very keen to engage the fanbase and anyway to broaden the scope should be a good thing in general. This place is a good example that we have devoted fans far and wide, a lot who do a bloody great job of getting to games. Giving them a voice as well as the locals is important.

So Unity is still very much on the nose for you ?
I was hoping that universal praise for both boards was in order .
IF we win a comp in the next 3 years , would you then deem them a success story and tip your hat ?

He dealt with the Asada question in an interesting way... firmly said players and coaching staff wont answer questions about it.... I wonder if that's as of now or if he intends to discuss it as a club one last time then tell them that's it.

Id be ok with that.

I think I'd rather leave it if in his shoes. Just make sure things are tight and it'll never happen again.

If Gorman and the current Board are true about bringing the 47 years of history to "the tent" then they're going to have to realise that sports politics is more insidious, treacherous and back-stabbing than its federal partisan political counterparts.

In so doing, they have to realise that they might be told that they have to value and engage with a whole lot of stuff that they don't want to hear.

This is all about credibility and authenticity... not about gangs and cliques.

I've run more political campaigns than I care to remember and I'll give the current Board one salient piece of advice - it all rests on empowerment, ownership and activation at purely an individual and granular level.

Stuff slogans, hashtags, metrics, click-throughs and all the other crap that half-wits spout off ad-nauseum.

Engage - value - activate - empower - propagate.

More importantly, I wonder if he can organise for an alternative full strength beer besides VB to be sold at games. :cheers
Yep. Drinking that piss takes all the fun out of game day. It's not like James squire for example is that obscure, and it's made half an hour up the road.

I agree. I can't say all that slogan, hashtag **** is entirely as unimportant as I used to think it was. Just look there must of been a half dozen replies to your question about what to fix first that were about social media.

But it has to be on the back of tangible hardwork in the areas you've pointed out.

I don't know if you agree but I think Gorman pointed in the same directions you speak of in the interviews I've seen. If he makes good on that I think we'll have good days ahead.

What does that say?

I agree entirely with a lot of what Lyall Gorman is saying. I do not believe that to be a coincidence.

It is interesting for me to see the "development" of the current Board to see that the answer lies not in footy-head, footy club reflexes but in much larger, broad-church community activation and engagement principles. Bravo! They finally get it!
