I'll back that. I remember from when fitz joined in here he was probably accused of being too positive. If I'm not mistaken he was a driving force (if not the one who kicked it off) behind a 'Believe' campaign and many other initiatives to promote a positive feel among the Sharks fanbase.
I do sense you've soured a little since I been back though, fitzy. Which sucks as an ordinary fan cause I'd bank that you've got good reasons which the rest of us aren't privvy too and that can't be good for our Sharkies.
I caught that too. I think he opened up in person fan forums at the Wanderers, but he's obviously very keen to engage the fanbase and anyway to broaden the scope should be a good thing in general. This place is a good example that we have devoted fans far and wide, a lot who do a bloody great job of getting to games. Giving them a voice as well as the locals is important.
If Gorman and the current Board are true about bringing the 47 years of history to "the tent" then they're going to have to realise that sports politics is more insidious, treacherous and back-stabbing than its federal partisan political counterparts.
In so doing, they have to realise that they might be told that they have to value and engage with a whole lot of stuff that they don't want to hear.
This is all about credibility and authenticity... not about gangs and cliques.
I've run more political campaigns than I care to remember and I'll give the current Board one salient piece of advice - it all rests on empowerment, ownership and activation at purely an individual and granular level.
Stuff slogans, hashtags, metrics, click-throughs and all the other crap that half-wits spout off ad-nauseum.
Engage - value - activate - empower - propagate.
