I like Metcalf with Trindall that’s a good halves partnership. Heaps of potential. Both are zippy and can kick too

On your point I still didn’t see anything that suggests Tracey is an ok option at centre. Zzzz

The zzz is right, it is getting tiring seeing this comment over and over.

I wouldn’t describe Metcalf as being hooked. We just needed to get Moylan out there, Luke didn’t really do much wrong.

100%
Seems like we agree on a lot of things tonight Chad!

Happy to see his time in the side continuing to increase.

this is the way I see Metcalf building. expect him to take on too much might not be right for the young fella. I think slowly slowly, good off season and who knows
end of the day agree with others, at that time in the game bringing moylan was a good move.
he ran with the ball well, caused some indecision in the defence. pleasantly surprised.

Yeah I think it was a good decision to get Moylan on the field, especially why we got the one man advantage.

But the game was screaming for Metcalf also why we had the one man advantage, it showed when Katoa made the break and arguably our fastest and only support player was just dragged from the field.

We got a free interchange with Williams because of Felger going on report, maybe we should of just brought Moylan on for him to float around the middle (or Metcalf float) for 10 mins then maybe bring a middle back on for Metcalf when it went back to 13v13. Or as someone said, a good option could of also been put Metcalf Centre, Tracey wing and Hiroti to the tip

Metcalfe was the better player, but Moylan is a six and Trindall is a 7, so it was only ever going to be Metcalfe coming off. It'd be interesting to see Metcalfe next to Moylan... Trindall's game lifted having that leadership and experience next to him

How are we going to keep him LONG Term ?
He not going to want to remain a bench player forever .

Just give him Moylan contract after next year. I’m sure he won’t mind then

I think at this rate we need to extend him for 1 more year, 2 would be nice.

We then have a great opportunity to view Trindall, Metcalf and Hynes in the halves. If all 3 are incredible you try to find a way to fit them in the starting side, whether that be in the outside backs or lock or whatever.

If that doesn't work, the reality is you try and keep the best 2. It is a good problem to have really. I think you could easily keep him to the end of 23 with a a top 17 spot and a slight upgrade.

Moylan won’t play the whole season. Unfortunately I don’t think his hammy will handle it.
Metcalf will get his time to shine.

Where in say 2023 /24 ?
Kennedy FB
Nicko 5/8
Trindall HB.
Might not want to be bench player if other Clubs offer big $$$ to be starting 5/8

So what are you suggesting?
If someone not making the starting side gets squeezed out so be it, it happens.

Really don't want to see that happen.
There lies the conundrum.

Well don't tie yourself too tightly to 2023/24 Metcalf, we really have no idea what that looks like yet, although agree he has shown some exciting/promising signs

If he doesn't make the team and we are priced out or he wants a better chance at a start the options are
- let him go, we have better players making the team
- let one of the better players go as a value call (metcalf nearly as good but much cheaper)
- try and shoehorn him into another position like centre (maybe worthwhile, maybe not, coaching staff should have a better idea by then)

Not much point in planning how we use Metcalf in 2023/24 now, especially on the assumption he is playing well but not better than any of the starters in same positions.

I think there's a bit of water to flow under the bridge before we get to this point mate.
