No better place to talk about Luke Burt then in a Luke Burt thread.
Mods can delete it if we don't end up signing him if they please.

I'm pretty sure Burt is a lefty isn't he? He has an awesome little kick and chase down the sideline that I remember him doing with some good results.

I hope we get him in the absence of any other experienced FB's being linked to the club?

Him & old team mate Robbo can really do some damage together LOL

But seriously some stability at the back would be great for us and from what i've seen Burt's legs still move ok for an older bloke. Sure he won't be Gards....

Given that Slater is the benchmark, i would much prefer to have a 'wiser' player to fill the gap there.

I don't dislike Gardner, i just think that Burt's ball playing ability will far outweight that x factor. Had Nathan held onto that pass from Fifita on the weekend i might feel a little different.

Even if Gards holds that poor pass from Fifita it doesn't negate that his defensive positioning has not improved and is letting us down at the back. Burts experience and composure would be good and I doubt he is in a position to command to much $. Would be a pretty decent signing IMO.

Let's just hope that all the talk means something is actually happening.

Would love it to happen after we beat them this weekend.

that pass wasn't on as he passed it too late when there were 3 opposition players their. Gards still should of held it.

He was calling for it and it was at a catchable height. He is paid to catch those sorts of passes, especially if you are calling for it. He could have called a switch, and supported the ball carrier differently. Either way i don't want to get too bogged down on that particular incident as i am using it as an example. I am sure that someone like Billy Slater early in his career was guilty of similar things, but it was a while ago and i can't remember at this point.

I just think a 'wiser' head in similar situations would be better, we are breaking the line well enough. A little polish on finishing those tackle busts and we can put some teams to the sword earlier and i can have a lower resting heart rate at the match.
