Now that your here!

Do you guys actualy believe we are a chance of folding? That the NRL would let a club fold after almost 50 years of rugby league in the shire?

our footy stinks at the moment but can only improve after last week.

I hate to be a doom merchant, but I tend to think it is inevitable in the absence of a miracle. We have a small support base and small corporate support base, we have no money, no facilities and no good on-field performance which means no free to air coverage which means no interest from big sponsors whose money we need to dig us out of the hole.

Please don't take this the wrong way; I love the club and am doing what little I can do to support my club (i have bought season seats this year for the first time in five-ish years, I have spent a couple of thousand on sharks merch over the last 10 months which is far more than I've spent the rest of my life combined, i've bought wall plaques etc) But, from my perspective, there is no way we can compete with the stronger clubs off the field which will always be a problem.

I hate to say it, but maybe we should've been more desperate during the joint venture madness of the late 90s. To be honest, I can't see any other club who would want to partner with us now (and if they did, we would be the junior partner and lose our colours, logo and identity)

I hope and pray that I am completely wrong, but I fear that things are more desperate than the club is openly acknowledging. If our results continue to be bad, we will lose supporters (naturally), and have no interest from new generous sponsors.

Why does this thread always come up when we're battling on the field? We seem to love kicking ourselves while we're down.

We won't fold unless we do go bankrupt and the Bears declare that they're ready to step in the following season. Even then it would be very embarrassing for the NRL and I'd say wed have a good shot at readmission. Otherwise they'll keep us afloat.

The development kids, the development.

Look at the real estate we own. If worst came to worst we could just sell the car park for someone else to develop. It's a pretty good asset to have at your disposal.

Indeed.

We have only lost two games and we could have very easily won against Melbourne.

Those two losses really arent going to effect our cashfow that much.

The title of the thread was ment to aggrovate people, there is speculation, especialy on that ******* blog today from alot of people that we have no choice but to fold. im not suggesting we fold, im not suggesting we merge. we just need to find a way out of this down wood spiral we seem to be in.

Worse comes to worse we could relocate and sell our current land to have a nice kitty. The place we relocate to we could just rent the stadium and get help from the local government like most other clubs do. So in effect we have that lifeline. Let's say we moved to the Sunshine Coast for example and the Sunshine Coast council built a big stadium for us sort of like how the Titans have skilled park, we could move there and sell our current land including the leagues club and be a quite well off club.

Yep, that's why I don't visit those blogs.

They are full of dragon twats whose opinions I don't care for at the best of times. They are stirrers with ulterior motives. Don't worry about them and don't listen to them.

one thing that can be pulled out of that blog however, might sound cliche, but if we dont win we are headed for disgraceful crowd attendances

Why on earth should we even be talking like that after losing two games? This defeatist attitude is astounding and does not help anyone. How the **** can we expect the team to believe in themselves if we continually talk them down? We almost beat the Storm, but for some reason we are doomed?

I for one refuse to talk down what "might" happen to our crowds. What we need now is a positive attitude. I'll be there every ****ing week and anyone else who gives a **** will be there. So in my opinion everyone that matters will be there. EVERY CLUB has massive fluctuations in their crowds according to success and that's natural. We have a core of support, and the core people will stand by through thick and thin.

We'll deal with things when they eventuate. Talking about this just serves to perpetuate a downward spiral. We have at least 9,000 that show up regardless.

Those ****wits from other clubs continue to talk us down but I ****ING WONT.

My comments weren't meant to be negative. For example, in my own case, my understanding of where the club is at financially isn't throwing in the towel. It has actually kicked my butt into gear and has pushed me from being an armchair Foxtel viewer three kms away to an active member who is willing to put my money where my heart is.

From my understanding, and assumptions, we currently are on our last roll of the dice. If the club cannot turn around its financial position (while still increasing its fan and sponsor base - a difficult ask) then I feel the writing is on the wall. But this is a challenge that can still be won.

The members of this forum have really stood up. Twice now we have thrown in some dough that has gone to our club. This is awesome, amazing and exactly the kind of passion and reinvigorated commitment that our club needs.

I sit in front of the TV in New Zealand every week swearing at the team because I know they can be better than what they dish up, wishing with all my heart they turn the corner. I love the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and always will, if they relocate I'm out no more league if they get cut I'm out no more league. Thats my team full stop I would rather support them in the worst times then support any other team. 1 team 1 Life
