Are we the only team this weekend that didn't wear a ANZAC Jersey?

Well I am for one not liking the rubbish that's going on I hate the fact that our game is doing this I feel its not respecting the ANZAC's at all.

I don't know if it's because I'm a father now but this year rocked me more then any other, puts different things is perspective I think.

It does Greg when i was a young man and wanting to join the forces my mum and Dad were against due to family history and I couldn't understand why, now that I am a father I pray that my son and daughter never have to endure what these men and ladies did.

The last Stand now brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it wherever I am.

I remember explaining the war memorial in Kings Park, to my oldest Daughter when she was about 5. Then she started to cry. I asked her why she was crying and she said "They never got to see their Mum and Dad again."

Yeah its amazing the range of reactions you get from kids these days with regard to this. I teach History to kids in a low socio economic school and they can be pretty tough kids who often have little respect for authority or history. However when we discuss ANZAC and war in general they seem to gain a great deal of respect for those who have gone and fought. Its one area where they display awareness and respect!

I don't mind the footy codes doing Anzac day tributes... I have way bigger issues with joints like coles and wollies trying to cash in on it that annoys me ten fold.

For many of today's society, this is one way the RSL can actually maintain the legacy of fallen soldiers.

The Anzacs and RSL need the audience that this gets. As long as it's done well, it needs to remain.

Fox did a decent job, having current players recount stories of previous players who were called to war, many not returning. It was the usual black and white, looking away from the camera stuff, but the message was strong and for some people, this is what they may need to begin to realise what this day is about.
