the above article states that the 200k we available in this years cap could effectively triple when 2012 contracts are done. could someone explain how it could triple i realise we could bring forward payments for some players contract for next year so i thought we could double it. but how could we triple it?

First things first:

The article[paragraph]does state as fact that we have 200K to spend, but never gives any evidence to support this claim. It also promotes a gray area as to whether we are currently 200K under the Cap, or we just have 200K available to spend.

On reading that paragraph, and believing it as fact, I'd be within my rights to assume that we are currently 800K under the Cap, but only have 200K to spend.

... But seriously, I'm pretty dubious about that bit of the article.

My interpretation is that they are saying because so much of the squad is off-contract that if we choose not to re-sign them the value we have toward the open market will triple.

I am looking forward to this season as it seems that either the team will perform or they will be replaced. Either way change will be coming, whether it be immediate or in 2012.
