Heard an interesting rumour from Buzz today. He said that Fitz told him he loves Miller as a player and clubman, and his priority is to keep him if possible. They will be looking at our cap situation to see if a similar 3 year deal to what Newy are offering could be accommodated with us to provide him that financial stability.

Did we have an idea of what that offer looked like?

Honestly, I'd be more then keen to see him stay, I really rated him as a good backline utility when he played last year, the question imo being, where is his best backline position for us & where is he likely going to get the most minutes when needed?

I don't see where you play him. He is a fullback, 5/8, bench utility and he is not first choice in any of these positions.

The question is most likely can he take Kennedy's spot? I don't see him in any other position.

Well this is it and I actually see Dykes as the one to take Kennedy's spot.
I think the signing of Puru confirmed we see Dykes as a fullback for at least next few years and already looked like he has jumped Miller for Cup fullback / backup fullback.

He might be able to fill in at 6 in Cup but I don't want him playing there in NRL and also didn't love him on the wing. I think he's just a fullback.

He really shouldn’t be playing first grade outside of fullback and at a touch 5/8. I just don’t know how much game time he will get with Kennedy, Moylan, Dykes, and Trindall all probably ahead of him in the pecking order and then Puru and Iro (has played some fullback) come into our top 30 for 2024.

Yeah I would like him to stay but it would have to be almost minimum wage if he falls in that 3rd choice his position, squad filler category to work for us. He might also not even play a game for us some years.

Might be best for both parties at his age that he just leaves for a starting spot and probably a better salary to reflect that

Agree. I don't think we need to spend money on keeping Miller personally.
completely agree. I like they guy, I just think he would actually be better off going to the knights. He could lock down a starting spot and establish a career. I can't see it for us, given we have Kennedy and Dykes.

Would also be good to watch more often, but he's not so good I think it makes the Knights too hard for us to beat.
Whether we can beat Knights or not comes more down to if Ponga decides to actually have one of his rare great games or just one of his usual ones (otherwise it is mostly us beating ourselves I expect).

Could also be that they see Puru as a 7. He played there a bit last year.

We're all sort of assuming Miller is guaranteed a starting spot at the Knights.

I'm not so sure.

We've seen Ponga revert to fullback before.
Both Gamble and Again have far more first grade experience and have been training at fullback.

It'd still very likely end up a three (or four, possibly) horse race.

If we don’t release this bloke I’d like for him to be given a crack at centre in nsw cup to see how he goes there.
