No idea, he didnt have half the season flanno jnr is having
It took all of these things to happen for Cleary to get a run.
1. Segyaro got released (so Wallace moved from 7 to 9)
2. Te Maire Martin got a season-ending injury
3. Jamie Soward played poorly and got dropped, then released before 30 June
4. Matt Moylan said he wasn't ready to play 5/8 yet
5. Peachey was tried at 6 and 9 and was OK but not ideal
6. Other part time options were tried in 9 so Wallace could return to 7, but these failed too
7. The Panthers won only 5 of their first 12 games

Ultimately Cleary getting called up was a last resort which they resisted for as long as possible. It was his performances after that which kept him there.
A comparable scenario for the Sharks this year would probably be season ending injuries to 6 players out of Maloney, Townsend, Bird, Paulo, Segyaro, Brailey, Clydsdale and Brown. If we have to lose all of those players for Flanagan to get a run I don't like what that would mean for our finals hopes.
