The Bulldogs are set to extend the contract of their bargain-basement buy of the year, Bryson Goodwin, after yesterday announcing the signing of a player they believe can follow in the winger's footsteps - Penrith's Junior Tia Kilifi.
Goodwin, currently this season's equal-top tryscorer, is believed to have secured an upgrade to his current deal and an extension that will keep him in blue and white until at least the end of 2011.
And the signing of the Panthers rookie Tia Kilifi will bolster the Dogs' roster in the outside backs. The 21-year-old has played only a handful of games for the Panthers this season but burst into first grade with a late try to seal a win against Parramatta in round 17.
Bulldogs officials have been lauded for their decision to sign Goodwin this year, a move vindicated by the previously unheralded 23-year-old becoming one of the most potent wingers in the NRL.
And officials at the club, currently in second place on the NRL ladder, hope there will be similarities in their decision to sign Tia Kilifi.
