Just been reading on a Penrith Panthers forum : http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/showthread.php?t=334599 ,anyway they cant afford to keep him. The penrith supporters are well pieved. HE IS A GUN AND IS UP FOR GRABS!!!

He is in talks with the Bulldogs at the moment, BUT, surely we could offer him a bit more also he would be heaps more likely to get a run with us than them.

I dont understand how we havent already secured this guy, he is a gun in the making. In the matches he has played he has been close to the top in hit ups and in total metres made (all this from wing!)

Come on Ricky this guy would really bolster our backs and gets through a mountain of work (a bit like the Cov. except heaps quicker)

How much would he be after??? Considering the other post relating to Jennings, we should put as much as we can towards that cause if we want to consider him...

Could be good if we get Junior at a lowish rate and then get Jennings for 2011 - that would be a lethal left side attack!!!

There is no way he would be after heaps, would be an awesome budjet signing for sure. Considering how well he has played in first grade in his' first few games who knows how good he could get as well

how much money will we have left under the cap tho?

We have a fair bit. kearney and filiga freed up 200,000 each and Ross freed up 400,000. Then you have heaps of lower earners leaving also like Hughes, Norrie, Brown, Simmons etc.

Fair bit of money but no one nows how much our new signings have cost us. We'd still have heaps tho.

A good buy if we can get him.

Covell is a starting Winger because he is brilliant under the high ball, great defender and a great goal kicker

Would you rather someone who is fast, cant catch and is horrible in defence and cant kick, or someone who is one of the best in the game under the high ball, fantastic in defence and a great goalkicker but with lackluster pace? Ill take the latter

I would rather the latter. Firstly he can play both centre and winger.

He is heaps quicker and actually runs forward.

If he has deficiencies he can be taught, look how quick Wright improved his' defense.

The cov. is unfortunately average and his' kicking is not that good! (dont get me wrong the Cov. is a champ, but far out we need someone to get points on the board) Junior has heaps of potential and is a real workhorse, that can take a lot of load off the forwards.

He also brings a bit of unpredictability, something we are drastically missing.

Junior is only 21 he will improve HEAPS.

We have major problems scoring points, steps must be taken as at the moment we have NO WAY of putting points on the board, remembering next years line up is not HEAPS different than the one that has been running out most times this year.

stop bagging luke covell's pace, yes everyone knows he is slow so what. He makes up for it in every faccet of his game.

I would rarther have someone like him than some young kid who hasnt even clocked up 10 first grade games with all hype surrounding him.
We all know how bad Karl turned out.

I would rather Covell for next year, but for beyond 2010 I would much rather Tia Kalifi as he is one of those backs that can find the line. Most say he can't defend, but look at Matt Wright he was absolutly shocking when he first came in the NRL in defense. But now he is a lot more respectable and can make most tackles, although he still misses a few every now and then.

As stated not bagging him, BUT, he is dead set average. Yes he is good under the high ball. BUT that is it!

His' kicking is average, in comparison to most kickers.

We are missing offensive tools and when it is generally centres and wingers scoring tries, than it serves to reason that you would have to at least look there for answers.

At the end of the day Cov. is solid, BUT, Junior can play a number of positions and would solve an issue in depth for our back line.

Thank god there is someone else out there who see's Covell for what he is, an anchor holding us back. If Covell is so great why isnt every other Nrl team banging down the door when he comes off contract??? Yeah, thats right, deep down you know the answer.
