I shouldn't really look, but there are some pretty generous donations in the list. Aside from current players, Jack Williams, Jacob Saifiti and Lachie Miller notable, plus some of the lower-grade and NRLW players like Magoulias, Ison, and Jada Taylor.

Getting close to $50,000, would be a big help/relief if the flight does end up being needed.
Jesse and his partner did all the right things by the sounds of it so Would be nice for the NRL to come to the party under these circumstances

What should the NRL do?
Under exceptional circumstances like this, They could contribute with some funding.
Even an “interest free loan” if they don’t want to outlay with no repayment.

I’m not talking about footballers getting themselves into trouble but a couple who did all the right things before they left and have now been placed in an extremely difficult situation.
So if you have someone who could help out (aka NRL). Then why not?

No offence intended and I’m certain the Balinese doc’s and health care system would provide the best available care, but I would expect that with Australia’s resources, Australian hospitals would be able to provide better best available care.

I don't think they should be providing funding in this instance. A loan would be fair enough, though.

If they can give $100,000 to the Cowboys for a charter because they didn't organise their flights, they could do a bit for Jesse.
Would you feel the same if it was a lawyer or a neurosurgeon? I know they have longer careers but it would take the average wage earner over 6 years to earn what Jesse does in one.

I'm sorry, I have sympathy for them from a health perspective but not from a financial perspective.

There's no way Jesse deserves more money from the NRL for this. But I see no reason why the club/league couldn't authorise a quick advance on his salary given the serious nature of the incident. $130k up front, and take it back from his future payments slowly whether that be with us or another team on a future contract.

Even a few guys like Taj Brailey and a few other player relatives on there chipping in a little. For things like this every little bit really does add up.

People on reddit are going nuts about it. Plenty saying why does he expect randoms to pay for it.
He doesn't. He didn't personally send it to anyone. He didn't post it here or on reddit. If you or I come across it that's doesn't mean he is asking us to pay for his bills. The people he thought may be able to help him, and some others who choose to, are the ones donating.

If people want to donate that's fine, that's their business.

I know a couple of people on that kind of coin, no way I'd be donating to them for something like this. I'd offer a loan, though.

If they are good people to know they probably don't expect you to

On MMM radio they said Jesse has asked Aus government for assistance

I feel for his situation but the majority of regular people without a profile ain't getting any help from their employer or government in a situation like this. Why should a NRL player?

We could say this is a rare exceptional circumstance but we don't really know that, could happen to people overseas more often than we know we just don't hear about it

Surely he could get one of those quick finance loans for medical expenses, other people do

Maybe just asked for assistance in organising, like anyone who hasn’t organised a medivac flight before might.

I reckon you’d find plenty in similar circumstances do ask though

I’ve certainly seen references to it in articles about other peoples facing medical emergencies

Nothing wrong with asking the government for assistance. It should be what any Australian should do when in a foreign country and need help of any kind.
