I'm really hoping Jennings is using his head here, and wants to sign with is on whatever money we have left in order to play footy with his mates: Gordon, Lewis, Graham, Gallen & Carney, and to help us win a premiership!

Maybe we can sign him for whatever money we have left this year plus his top-up from penrith of $250k and then we can give him a larger salary for the years to come from the money we will save when Toops goes

Don't think you can backend contracts by silly amounts anymore if what I read into the Izzy saga was correct.

Even though he's a good player & even if Panthers were to pay say 200k of his first yr that still means he will be on about 400 with us on yr 1, I could probably live with that that but yrs 2 & 3 of his contract he would be on the reported 600-650k which I can't cop.

600-650k is not what it used to be considering the increases in the salary cap. I would take him on that but it isn't going to happen so no point worrying about it.

I was under the impression it went up to $5m this year. Beyond that negotiations are still taking place.

No surely not, I still think we are some time off from 650k being the norm for a class centre. Fullbacks, 5/8, halfbacks, hookers & probably props are ahead in the pecking order in most clubs eyes imo.

I know they are only recent topics or in the news but Scott, Tamou are two but there are probably more better centres running around at the moment than props so in a way the elite props would command more money but my theory does have flaws in it with props being in pecking order ahead of centres.

You have to look at how many good players are going around in that position that are off contract for example there aren't to many decent half backs so someone like Pearce is going to be extremly over paid next contract

Grant and McKendry would be up there seeing as the Panthers are a basket case.

I think they're both on 450k.

Thats what I thought
