I do wonder why he didn't stick it out for one more season? Surely the 2020 games would have been there.

I'm a Cronulla Shark fan who moved to the USA many years ago and I've become a serious NFL fan (Miami Dolphins). While Jarryd Hayne was a star NRL player, he did relatively little for the 49ers. Despite all the Australian media attention, Jarryd got very little playing time because of underperformance at training and he should be considered a total bust. However, full marks to him for giving his best shot and attempting to make it. Many Aussies are probably not aware of the physical conditioning and complexity of the NFL team playbooks. I would not be surprised if Hayne excelled back in the NRL after his ego got dented and the better conditioning and exposure to superior training in the NFL.

I don't see how he couldn't make the squad. The guy is a gun and rugby players are mostly ****. And this isn't even real rugby.

Why would him signing with Parra for next year bother them for the Olympics?

they wanted him for the 7's series next year and wanted him on a longer contract

so they are going to take a guy who will be signed with them rather than one who has lived his dream and going back to league

fiji are quite a good 7's team

Fair enough. I'm surprised they ever thought he'd stick around after the olympics though.

Just read a story that NRL might let Hayne play for the eels this year if the Gang of 5 drop their appeal... Surely this is siiht imagine the outcry if they made the 8... He is signing his death warrant if Greenberg allows this, apparently the June 30 deadline only applies to already registered NRL players.

Yep been saying it all along. The fact they have been given that bone by the NRL is pathetic. Storm didn't get that luxury.

Has Foran actually been released? I saw a headline saying that he was released and then another one from Parra saying that he hadn't been. I can't keep up.

They really shouldn't be playing for points this year at all. I don't even think that is all that harsh. People are talking like it would be the end of the world for them to not be able to make the 8.Half the clubs in the comp won't make the finals anyway. A club that has cheated should definitely not be there.

Also, they should be placed last for the past years where they cheated. It's really only symbolic but it should happen. It would also relieve us of our wooden spoon.
