I heard recently that the NRL want to get to 20 teams and everyone play each once.

That will leave more weeks for rep games (either during the season or after) and still leave enough time for players to recover in off season.

I doubt clubs will be happy with less gate revenues. Not to mention some teams are barely NRL standard as it is.

It's probably a 10-15 year plan. But then who knows how big the women's game will be. Potential extra games there alone.
If we're having doubts about the quality of the men's comp with 20 teams, I dread to think of a 20-team NRLW comp.

I was more thinking extra prime TV games (to supplement the mens) - not so much the extra teams in the women's comp.

You're right though - they need to take it slow with the women's. I think the new team(s) next year will be it for a while

I see. I was following on my idea that 10 home games would mean less gate takings and that the women's game would have to involve the same 20 NRL teams for the clubs to be satisfied.
But there might be more money in the game overall and the NRL might grant the clubs enough money for them to look past fewer home games.
Anyway, as you said, it won't happen overnight.
I'm just worried that a shorter NRL season (in terms of games played) won't necessarily mean a thriving international scene.

Pretty sure a 20 team comp with 20 rounds would have at least the same amount of games as the current set up. I can't be ****ed working it out though.

We're not on the same page. I'm thinking home games per club, not overall games per season league wide.

But I'm just worried that a shorter NRL season (in terms of games played) will mean a longer period for some of the recent crap on this forum (and the current season hasnt even finished ).

It'll be a test of our mental toughness for sure.
Not to mention that the minute a player gets injured in a midseason international (should they become a fixture again) there will be calls to get rid of them. Again... and again.
