PM's squad announced.

Somehow I knew it would happen, we get 4th place over 13 other teams, the bottom teams still get more players in then a 4th placed team, it's absolutely laughable & ridiculous. Not even in the Womens & they are in the GF aswell. Here are a few players who I think deserve a place, Brailey gets in the top 3 hooker contenders, Ramien & Iro get in the running for centre & rookie award, then there is Trindall, one of our wingers though maybe they are in an Islander team. Williams, Kaufusi & McIness perhaps?

I agree, but then again i'm kind of glad we have nobody in it. No risk of injury etc..

That squad named is one of the worst PMs squads i've ever seen. The players you mentioned though 100% should have been in there, or at least 1 or 2 of them.

Didn't it used to be players only picked from the sides who didn't make the 8? Or has changed?

Certainly is one of the worse sides I've seen in history. That side would be beaten by a reserve SOO side anyway haha.

Unclear if Williams would even play for Aus, he may have declared as NZ eligible, Oregon a good chance for Samoan selection
McInnes if he would have wanted to go is unlucky. Better than a number of the blokes named. Skewed a little towards taking younger guys though.
Brailey not over Liddle seems robbed.

We will have more players in the NZ and Pasifika teams
Likely both wingers, Iro, Kaufusi, Talakai and Nikora. Hunt maybe.

I think included first 2 or maybe 4 knocked out too. But this has a Rooster in it so could have included us (unless team was decided earlier and someone withdrew maybe)

It's not meant to be a full Aussie side, it's more like a development and Aussie trial side

Yeah i'm really not sure. From memory it used to definitely only be the bottom sides who didn't make finals which is how i think it should stay.
But this squad is just ridiculous. They got 5 halves in a squad of 20 :ROFLMAO:

I think we will be stacked in the pacific island teams for sure.
Also got Uele, Tuks who could sneak in to a squad.

Brailey & McIness are both certainly robbed & thinking about Ramien, he was a tad injury prone at the latter end of the season so that probably put him out of contention a little. Still, I'm a little surprised about Trindall wasn't considered. He is so much better then Galvin imo. If the PM is a Rabbits fan then I'm not surprised about Cook getting ahead of Brailey haha.

You could take Trindall Brooks Fogarty but it probably does make sense to take someone a bit more different too - Galvin they probably see as a future rep potential player and maybe a bit of a sorry you didn't get rookie of the year at the same time

Definitely some funny buggers at play in the list - it is far from a simple 'best available'

In saying that some like Trindall, Hynes, Ramien may have made themselves unavailable preferring to play in the Knockout the weekend before.

Another reason to play with chip on our shoulder next year and have a real siege mentality.

How did Cook get selected over Brailey for example?

There are 5 players in there Who I've got no idea about, who are Fletcher Sharpe & Dylan Lucas for example haha?

Knights up and comers
Clearly backed in as people Aus setup have earmarked rather than because they were best available.

Screams influence for them to play from Dragons doesn't it?
Cook starts, Liddle comes in and Cook either stays at 13 for a bit or comes for a stint there. Exactly what Dragons will be planning next year...

Happens to keep Blayke and Cam both out of the team...

Keep in mind team supposedly selected by Fittler, famous for cooked takes

If it's meant to be more around those lines why did Cook get ahead of Brailey then say Brooks gets ahead of Trindall, even Atko perhaps haha?

All these non selections will just make it all the sweeter when we win the comp next year.

They'll always take some experienced players.
Keep in mind Fittler is picking, he likes Cook.

Brooks would be closer to an Aus jersey than Atko - there's a variety of reason players get selected but it definitely makes for a very all over the shop team. TBH Galvin probably closer to one than Trindall, whether rightly or wrongly.

It's definitely a mess of a team I haven't seen anyone denying that haha

Is the squad meant to be officially selected by the PM himself & sends his selections through or is there a proper rep selection comittee & just called the PM's XIII?

Far as available team was selected by Fittler, who is the coach. It is within the Aus setup so there would likely be capacity for other influence from within that.

I do feel like I've previously seen something years ago the PM did ask for a player or two to be included but google of that didn't turn anything up.
