seriously though, I would start looking to the future to make it look like I am wanting to save the club and my job

holmes would be moved to fullback, and Gordon would be gone. let him find a mid season release to another club, or to the esl, but don't stand in his way, and if we have to pay 100-200k for him to move on for the remainder of the year, do it.

bring gagan back up.

beale and bird as centres. controversial as I know everyone loves leutele, I am a fan, but he has had his time, and beale has a 3 year deal. let leuts play out the year in reggies and bring him up if there is an injury. but back these 2 no matter what. especially bird, he is the future.

feki on the other wing.

barba at 5/8. no ifs ands or buts, because he is the only legitimate creative player we have and you don't want him to hinder holmes development, but you can grow it. in attack, let holmes get his hands on the ball more and let barba roam like a fullback. holmes has a brilliant passing game, so let him get a bit creative ala lockyer in his fullback days. let barba just play football.

odd for me to say this, but yes, robson is the half back, for the simple fact that he wont drop him. murphy should be the half for the remainder of the year though.

gallen to prop, on reduced minutes. I don't mind him taking 2-3 hitups getting out of our zone but he needs to be reminded to stay out of the play on attack.

ennis. say no more

david fifita, deserves a start

wade graham. get him playing more direct.

Anthony tupou. right edge to start the game, finishing at prop.

luke lewis. not as a battering ram though. needs to play like glenn stewart. stewart can influence a game heavily on about 6 hit ups.

bench.

prior, heino, Andrew, houma

our backline, 1-6 is very young. wade is young, the fifitas are young.

recruitment:

I would be letting one of heino and toops leave. sad as they are both contributing, but they are getting on in the tooth and we cant carry these 2.

which will make me sound like a hypocrite here, but I would go all out and sign one of myles/tamou and thaiday. I would go all out to secure 2 of them.

one of hodkinson and sandow is a must. sezer will not be coming. Hodkinson is asking for more than he is worth, but he is worth a lot to us. as Mark Bastard said, a kicking game is a huge upgrade to this team.

those 2 players make a difference to us. drastically.

then you go out and look for the next jack birds of the game. keep scouring nsw cup/Toyota cup for players wanting a go, not players wanting a lifeline/pay day. I know the myles/thaiday makes me look like I am going against what I am saying, but myles and thaiday still have a lot to offer, more than our forwards, and I think tamou can get back to his best in our squad. we have an uncanny ability of making **** lazy props (Andrew*/david/kade) turn into world beaters.

our team would still be relatively young, especially 1-7 if secured hodkinson, who is the number 1 target now.

----------------------

back to the team I selected, but we have to play direct, because we are still sliding against ourself in attack and running out of room.

we need to get our centres early ball, especially bird as he can do a lot of damage on the edge, he is a powerful runner and a meter eater. he is also very explosive and has great leg drive. the game plan would be to get him the ball off a good direct decoy run and let him do his thing.

we need to abolish the inside ball. it doesn't work for us, we can spread the ball, and the runner can still make that run, but it could be more direct and out the back, rather than an easy to read inside ball.

and above all, we need to make sure we have a game plan that suits Barba, not making barba suit our game plan.

we need decoys, out the back plays and support play. not the crap we dish up.

we need to re-invent the team. and it isn't hard to do.

because I had has finishing ahead of the knights comfortably this year but rick stone has them playing beautiful football. we haven't played beautiful football since 2002.
