... She gave me a box with a hat, stickers and other paraphernalia, and assured me that the tickets would come in the mail.

The season is over, and my membership package, including tickets never arrived.....

The box is the membership package - there was nothing else to receive.

For the tickets, you needed to call Reception before a home game and let them know you'd be coming... You then pick up your tickets on game day.

I received a letter about the tickets in the membership box and they did send a reminder letter a couple of weeks before the last game to remind people who hadn't used their tickets yet. If you didn't receive any letters from the club all year, perhaps they had the wrong address?

But I do share your frustrations... My girlfriend bought me a regional membership a few years ago and I never received a thing from them at all.

MC Hammerhead needs to spend a full working week roaming the mall and Miranda Fair.

i dunno if they do it in cronulla but in canberra i've heard of this dude rocking up to a shopping center and just randomly selling tickets to the game for like $10 or something. could get rid of a few hundred tickets real quick if MC just pulled up in some Shark-shaped automobile with a Mermaid by his side handling transactions (those wierd fin things of MC's will be no good at digging for change)

think about doing all night entertainment to encourage fans to stay at leagues club after game, like they did in late 80,s and early 90,s have presentation with players from nsw cup, toyota cup and first grade with award of game ball to best player in each grade. players signing autographs for kids and have drink with fans. followed by good band or battle of local bands something to entice fans to stay at club and spend money.

Kids under 16 should be allowed in for free. More parents will come if the kids are free. Family general admission season pass should be reduced in price.

Players should be out in the local schools more often. They should also be out in Westfields on offical fan days every 2 months. More fan days.

encourage players to get invloved with local junior teams.

More advertising of when games are on. More signage around the local area.

i think there is something to the idea of cheap/free seats.perhaps u8's free and 8-18 at a token fee($5-10).i think we need to get bums on seats and encouraging kids only brings the rest of the family.
the more you have in the ground, the more you have to feed and water(and buy merchandising) and better the atmosphere for the crowd and the players.

Actually assign a player to a club for the year and it is their job to get to a few training sessions and games. St Pats can get Covell, Yarra gets Barrett, Engadine gets...

Then there's a connection not just between the Sharks and the junior club but an actual player who will visit and support them and give out trophies on Presentation days.

Sort of like the way Libraries have writers in residence or laureates.

Players could request to go to the club they used to play at with non juniors being assigned according to where they live or simply who hasn't got a team yet.

Here's a tops marketing idea:

When someone orders a membership online, actually follow through with it. My wife paid for one just before my birthday back in february. We paid by credit card online, and our bank statement shows the transaction taking place.

A few weeks passed, and nothing arrived in the mail. By early March, I went into the club to chase it up. I was sent upstairs, and the lady wrote down my details then did some searching. She couldn't find any records. She gave me a box with a hat, stickers and other paraphernalia, and assured me that the tickets would come in the mail.

The season is over, and my membership package, including tickets never arrived. Granted, we only bought a loungechair membership which had two tickets ... but they never arrived. I paid around $50 for a hat, some stickers and a keyring which fell apart after a couple of weeks.

I know I should have gone back in and chased up the tickets, but I was told they would arrive, and with our luck this season, I really didn't feel up to going to a game.

Still I'm pretty disappointed in that.

I have a loungechair membership for the tickets you need to ring the club prior to the game of your choice and they issue the tickets. The problem is that they don't issue the tickets until 1 day before the game so the seats end up being average concorse seats (near the tryline not closer to halfway). I don't think this is the best way to look after your members as we are the ones who return to more games, buy merchandise, bring others, show support, sing scream yell at the games. The other issue about the lounge chair membership this year was long delays in actually getting anything my package didn't arrive until after the first round despite going into the club and paying for it well before. Not good if you wanted to buy it as a present (i couldn't see why they didn't give me the hat etc,etc when I made the original purchase as the lady in front of me got hers and then send out my membership card) (postage would of been cheaper). But then we need to look at how the club was being run early this year (the old boys club for exclusive members family and friends)

On saying all of that Iwill renew it again and purchase one as a CHRISTMAS GIFT for my son

Thats a sensational idea... If you read yesterdays leader there was a letter saying Corey Hughes went to a few training sessions for one of the young Taren Point teams, they pretty much said how much the kids appreciated it and were cheerin a footy player took the time out to go and see them, I bet you any of those kid's that didn't support the Sharks then, would support them now... And the beauty of that is it doesn't cost the club anything!

Two things the players need to get out to the local schools and do coaching clinics with the kids and really take the time to bound with the kids, after the clinic give out cards that allow the kids in for free if they bring there Dad (who pays full fee) this will attract a big supporter base with the kids and parents
2) Like someone said get the sharks store into a Mall or Westfield, I was on the Gold Coast and the Titans store was in the Robina shopping centre and the walk through traffic was awesome

I think for the junior base, we should allign ourselves with Endeavour Sports High, alot of good players come out of the school, but not many of them seem to play for the Sharks.

The '99 team, there were alot of locals and we had better success than we are having now, so it would seem logical to try and build more depth in the lower grades rather than just poaching all the eels juniors. (im just using them as an example as we have had a fair few eels come to the club in the past few years). From memory a fair few of the guy's in that team all went through the grades together?

great idea, besides the 99 team being a great team. the local area responded to team better cause of large amount of local juniors.

build alliances with local business for example approach local hotels so club can offer hotel room and game ticket packages for interstate members.
approach existing sponsors to offer discounts on products and services to members, this will make membership more valuable and make sponsoring sharks more appealing as will get more customers.
encourage other local schools to introduce elite ruguby league programs like endavour high has and run training programs with these schools, give these schools access to sharks training facilities.get players to be involved more with local schools and rl clubs so these kids grow only wanting to play for sharks

Ideas, ideas...I've had heaps of ideas! Do I have to list them all again?!? Oh well, no need as most of the boys have already listed most of the good ones.

1. Get the Merchandising Section out of the Leagues Club and into an established retail environment with lots of passer-by traffic and that is convenient to access by public transport. How many local kids can get themselves down to the Leagues Club to buy their dad a Father's Day, Birthday or Christmas gift?

This is a really good start. The merchandise "store" in the club is a shocker. If it is too expensive to get a permanent store in Cronulla Mall of Miranda Fair then a cheaper, and possibly, much better idea is to get a mobile merchandise truck (like the Eels had at Shark Park this year) that can be taken around to shopping centres or even sports grounds all around the Shire and set up in carparks. This will have a great "impulse buy" power as people will see the truck, wander over for a look, and hopefully buy something.

4. Get a local panelbeater to get a car (preferably a convertible yank tank) and do it up with a complete spray job in Sharkies colours... complete with sound system... and maybe a dorsal fin. The sort of eye catching thing that turns up to kid's games, schools, fetes, etc., with things like Jaws theme, Up-Up Cronulla, Can't Touch This playing on the stereo. Make an entrance.

Way ahead of you there mate! Nearing completion on my '64 AP5 Valiant which I have painted platinum (sky) blue metallic with a white roof, Sharks car mats, Sharks number plates, sharks fluffy dice and Sharks stickers. I am seriously tossing up whether to put the twin black stripes up the bonnet, as per your picture - except my wife will go bananas if I spend anymore cash on it! Tell you what, if the club or a local spray painter want to pay for the job, I'll get it done!

8. Get in contact with all local schools and offer Sharks players to go to end of year Assemblies to hand out Sports Awards & Trophies.

Go one better than that. Assign a school to each player and make it their job to visit that school whenever possible and become part of the school family. We are losing young kids to other, more "glamourous" clubs like the Tigers, Dragons, etc. Far too many kids at my sons' school follow teams other than the Sharks and it really annoys me! If you don't have these kids by 12, stats show you have lost them forever.

I think for the junior base, we should allign ourselves with Endeavour Sports High, alot of good players come out of the school, but not many of them seem to play for the Sharks.

We are already aligned with Endeavour, problem is they are also aligned with the Dragons. They display both club logo's on their League uniform

More like family orientated activities ... like yes were in money problems though i think it would be awesome like BBQ at the game, bringing childrens activities you know the lot

Not just at the games, the Leagus Club itself must be more family friendly. Encourage people to bring their families for a meal at the Club. Look at the success of clubs like the Tradies and Taren Point Hotel where they offer a "kids club". Make use of the Summertime bar as a bistro area where kids can run around on the grass in the sunshine and Mum and Dad can watch them while they have a meal and a drink. Even better, put in some play equipment, climbing gym etc. Have a "kids room" for the older kids with Xbox, videos etc like they do at Tradies - my kids love it.

Actually assign a player to a club for the year and it is their job to get to a few training sessions and games. St Pats can get Covell, Yarra gets Barrett, Engadine gets...

Can't begin to explain how important this is is getting and keeping young fans...

These (and all the others) are great ideas that could really start a new era at the Sharks. The board and CEO should look at this as an opportunity to "start again" - rebuild the club from the ground up. We have the chance to re-invent this club as the envy of all others.

I just hope that someone out there is really listening...

Welcome to Emu Plains, please be sure to visit our
heard parra memberships for next year, season ticket holders will also be Football Club members..football club membership at the sharks is a totally different membership package

it would be great if you could get a season ticket that holds some meaning besides owning a seat at shark park for a year, you would become a real member, not a novelty..

this season just gone, i got both a season ticket and a football club members, make it one package

qld interstate members should have option to upgrade membership to cover both the game at skilled and sunscorp stadiums and different levels of membership so interstate members have option to pay more for good seating. as interstate members may only get to see sharks life a few times and are prepared to pay more for good seating.

I think it should be the prime focus of the Club to re-engage the Shire community.

On the other hand, I feel they should also be attending to the 1%ers like gosharks here.

Pay attention to ALL your fans. Make a policy of "No matter where you are on the Globe - The Sharks have something for you".

Start by doing reciprocal deals with interstate Clubs and the Warriors/Knights. Make it easy and attractive for their fans to come to Toyota Stadium, and our fans to go to their's.

Make gameday at Toyota Stadium the pinnacle of entertainment, that no matter how much we flog their team by on the field, opposition fans will look forward to the next time their fool team plays away against the Sharks :D.

this might not be the greatest idea but if they could make it profitable maybe look into putting our theme song up up cronulla onto a cheap cd and sell for 10-20 dollars a cd i dont know if it would be worth it but i would love it on a cd
you could possible sell it at the ground it is very important to know the song its even better when we win.....
