Im not sure where you got this figure from? Rebecca Wilson?

anyway, at the members shoot last year, we were advised that the NRL conducted a survey from print media to online media trying to find out the number of fans that each team had.

we got 179,000 people from all over the country saying they are Sharks fans

Cheers for that snowman. Makes me wonder whether that was the total figure of Sharks supporters who took part in the survey or whether they adapted the figures according to the percentage of NRL fans who participated?

If 179,000 Sharks fans actually participated in the survey that is extremely impressive!

But they got enough to march. But that alone did not get them back in.
2 years of court cases and god knows how much money from Piggens and Crowe and co.

Who is going to fight for us if the ARLC decides enough is enough? Who is going to bring the money???

I won't be watching NRL if we're banned/kicked out.

Me personally, I wouldn't go that far but lets say atm my interest in RL is 100%, this is mainly due to the Sharks, if there is no Sharks team my interest would be down to about 10%, I know I would never go to watch a match live unless it involved my employment where I was required to attend.

I wouldn't be putting my own hand in my pocket to watch a non Sharks game thats for sure & where I am today, I try & watch the 8 games a week because I hope results fall into place to help the Sharks in their position on the ladder but if there's no Sharks team I wouldn't be concerned if I missed the lot of them.

yet, souths had how many on their march for re-instatement?

I was at the Souths march for reinstatement and now I feel might pissed off that the Souths fans were giving our players so much grief on Monday night. Makes me wish I hadn't supported their reintroduction

There are a lot of scum that support souths. They have no respect for anyone or anything so it doesn't really surprise me that they dished it out.
Souths and Saints fans are pretty much the same when it comes to us. It also doesn't help the fact that the Shire has a lot of rich folk so the scum like to dis it to us given the chance.

Groovy so if we look like getting relocated or kicked out we can count on 179,000 people to get up and march for us? Doubt it. How many did we get to the re-development march that was to save our future? A few thousand at best. I wish that figure was true and even if it is those people obviously don't care enough to dip into their pockets so they may as well "support" someone else.

Mate, you dont realise, the Sharks have a huge fan base nationwide. I for one am from the Gold Coast, and I know loads of people up here who are sharkies fans through and through. We cant all make it to the march.

Are you all members?? If not then you are part of the problem. We are not and have never been taken seriously by other clubs and the league because of our small membership numbers, our lack of star power off the field and our lack of acheivement on it.

I'm not happy about any of this by the way none of this brings me a whole lot of pleasure. But it doesnt matter what gets said and who ticked a box on a website to say they "support" the sharks, if the NRL needs to make an example of a club to keep ASADA and WADA happy its going to be us.

Unless we can make a big deal like Souths did we have to face the real possibility that after this season the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks will be no more.

In my opinion, whilst most country and interstate supporters of the Sharks will always hope they stay in the Shire ( many cut ally come from the Shire), how many would still follow them if they were say, the Brisbane or Central Coast Sharks.

It would be polish of the NRL to think that just because these supporters are not Shire locals, that the Sharks would hold onto those supporters if they moved.
