Let's say the Sharks franchise gets a compulsory two year suspension from professional sport, based on say half the team being guilty and having two year bans themselves.

The NRL would need to fulfil its obligations for 8 games a week, so they'd have to take the remaining Sharks players, then recruit some hand-me-downs from other clubs, and put in place a new team on short notice.

I'd imagine they'd play them out of ANZ, Bluetongue, Suncorp and some places like Wellington, Perth etc too.

If this happens they should be called the Wayfarers and I'll be their #1 fan.

Cheers Fitz, you just added another word to my vocabulary.

I'm with you MB if such a thing did happen I would go on to support what ever team our players played for.

Doesn't the NRL take a recommendation from ASADA and then decide themselves if a team will be suspended? I don't think they'd do it readily and would push for the season to go on with the Sharks playing for no points.

11.2 Consequences for Team Sports

If more than two members of a team in a Team Sport are found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation during an Event Period, the ruling body of the Event shall impose an appropriate sanction on the team (e.g., loss of points, Disqualification from a Competition or Event, or other sanction) in addition to any Consequences imposed upon the individual Athletes committing the anti-doping rule violation.

So if there are two players from a side found to have committed doping violations the side can be banned. I can think of three sides other then us that could be in trouble. Is the ARLC going to let 4 sides be stood down? Or is it easier to make an example of one?

Don't think the ARLC will care if we don't watch footy. How many of us are there. 8800 confirmed members and maybe 15000 fans ranging from occansional to passionte.

So they lose what 24k fans at most. Not really a concern for them against the 1 billion dollar TV deal that standing down a team would cost. Offer the non sanctioned players large contracts to move, bring in Tim Sheens grab a few other off contract players and young gun 20's and you have yourself the Perth Whatevers.

I am sure part of the contingency plans the ARLC are looking at includes this.

My passion for league gas taken a HUGE hit over all this crap. As a sharks fan im used to getting the rough end of the pineapple but this investigation has hit new levels. Guilty or not, our scapegoat treatment from the media and lack of support from the nrl at the start was embarrasing. If we were to be banned there is no way i could still watch the game.

I feel the same way, won't be watching any league. No one knows yet who exactly is guilty of what but the supporters have done nothing wrong and don't deserve this ****!

you make a point about support from the nrl at the start. and its just a line of thought but, the nrl stayed well away when the shiit hit the fan and now they seem to be turning up from every where ...even visiting change rooms after games. My question is have they waited for a report from cullen before they were seen to be helping us..and maybe that report was not as bad as first thought MAYBE..... sorry for not keeping to your thread MB

They just left us to the wolves for the first week and by that stage our brand had already been tarnished. They must be going to support us till the end now otherwise they wouldnt of steped in and just let the media drown us in their horse ****.

Im not sure where you got this figure from? Rebecca Wilson?

anyway, at the members shoot last year, we were advised that the NRL conducted a survey from print media to online media trying to find out the number of fans that each team had.

we got 179,000 people from all over the country saying they are Sharks fans

Groovy so if we look like getting relocated or kicked out we can count on 179,000 people to get up and march for us? Doubt it. How many did we get to the re-development march that was to save our future? A few thousand at best. I wish that figure was true and even if it is those people obviously don't care enough to dip into their pockets so they may as well "support" someone else.
