Covell - Sharks fans either seem to love him or hate him. Me personally, I fall closer to the love side of the scale but I can admit when his in crap form or not. His worth his weight in gold and has made a valuable contribution to the team this year. The anti-Covell Movement on this thread that wants to get rid of him are one-eye radical extremists who wont admit his at least a half decent player, he deserves to keep his spot at the moment but if Ricky see's otherwise that's fine.

covell played like a god like always. Hasem missed a conversion in the City Country game which proves goal kickers can some times miss. so stop ragging on him about that. The last one was a perfect call to be missed. The chip over for the bird try was fantastic. He did the last thing last week but Pom bombed the try. If Covell didnt go for that ball it would of been a try anyway the Warriors where towering over Misi. Covell saw this and thought he would go for it anyway. If misi wasnt there covell would of had it covered.

Covell is a must for our team Dont make me bring out the video again damn it!

I am not the biggest Covell fan, but I am starting to think there are plenty worse wingerrs inthe comp. He is a great dummy half runner, fairly solid under the high ball, great in contesting our kicks for tries. And did you see the kick he put in for Bird last night? Mate it aint that easy to do on the fly. If it were he or Hannay - I reckon he offers more. And as for that last kick at goal - absolutely brilliant from Ricky! We stole 30 metres from them in that play!!!!

i like covell in general play, he is excellent under the high ball, he always beats the first defender when he runs the ball, and normally, he is one of the best goal kickers in the game. the downside is, he is too slow( but he knows this himself), and sometimes he is found out in defence. the problem i have with him at the moment, is that he has missed some pressure goals in some of the close losses that we have had, and if he had of kicked them, like he would normally do, we may have won some of those games. i'm still of the opinion that he did not purposely miss that last goal last night, but many of you will disagree. he needs to work on his kicking a bit more, but ricky obviously see's value in him, otherwise he would have been dropped by now.

OK guys I am not an anti covell person I think he can be good when he is on his game but I still think we could use a faster winger so what position could we use him If he was to come off the wing.

I can t believe misis played as well as he did, yep he dropped a ball from a kickoff but hey we have seen many of our seasoned players do the same.

U idiot u dont think he missed the last kick at goal on purpose derrrrrr............Look at what happened when he did miss it you galah

Hey Listen Spastic, I wasn't talking about the last kick, the other conversions he missed, one in particular he definately should of got. The last one, well yes we can argue for and against on that.

But IMO which undercover dutchie he caused Misi to drop that bomb by running in and jumping up and pushing Misi out of the way.

As I have been saying which not many people on here care to acknowledge (but again Jimmymac has) is the mistakes he does make cost us big time. Yes he is good under the bomb, yes he goes ok 60% of the times from dummyhalf, but his defense reads are poor and kicking is down, for mine, those 2 things cost us points every week, points that could be the difference between semis and not, or win and losing games. Think the bigger picture guys.

I'm with you GW. Misi ran for 130 metres on the weekend and is always a handful when he runs the ball. Ive never thought of wing as a position where you pick someone because they are a safe option. You pick someone who has pace and can score tries. How many times has Covell either been put into the clear or taken an intercept only to look line he is running on a treadmill?

GW/Teflon - I accept that Covell's goal kicking hasn't been as reliable lately as it usually is, but the fact remains that with the possible exception of Hannay, he is still our best goalkicker by a wide margin. So my question to you guys is, if you drop Covell, who is going to kick the goals - do you bring Hannay into the side and shift Anderson back out to the wing? Please don't tell me that you would give Noddy the job again!

I personally think that Hannay was hard done by Mega. I would have Anderson back to the wing and Hannay into the centres .

Yes why not, even put Hannay on the wing, if Coveel can be there and be that slow Hannay is slightly faster then him.

I am not debating what yhour saying Mega, but in all honesty, Noddy would of kicked some of the easier ones Covell has missed this year.
