All you Covell lovers, have to be fair dinkum, he has to go, he cost us another try tonight, running to bump out Misi who had a bomb covered IMO. Then missed to reasonably easy kicks for someone of his ability in the kicking stakes.

Someone please give a real good reason why he should stay in first grade, he is progressively getting worse.

HE HAS TO F*CKING GO!!!!!

In other news, I thought Misi played well enough to earn another go in NRL, along with Weston, who runs with some urgency and purpose.

I don't think he should be on the wing to be honest we need someone with some speed to catch these pricks up the side.

But really no other place for him that I see had a joke on another thread saying get him to put on another 30kegs and put him in the front row but what else can we do with him.

I feel his kicking is down on last year as well.

Dont know wat game u were watching but i thought covell played an awesome game.he had no oportunities out wide, thats one thing.his dummy half running was very, verystrong.he made no mistakes in attack, from wat i can remember and that last kick he missed on purpose,if u cant see that then u must be blind!

Covell played better than misi!

I was thinking of the one from the try early on and it was a sitter well should have been for him.

As for the last I would have fallen over in laughter if it was me.

I thought he was OK tonight, he is not getting any quicker but his involvement was good and he makes some good metres out of dummy half. And he didn't let his opposing winger get on his outside tonight either, for a change :p

i'm sorry,i might be mistaken(or drunk)but covell is a very valuable member of our side, except for his speed,he is very safe in every other aspect of the game, whether it be defence, kicking, dummy half running watever he always holds his own,so to all u anti-covell people.....go back too school!wouldn't swap him for any other winger in the NRL.

Dunno about that Nulla, I thought Misi did very well tonight considering he was a late addition and is by no means a specialist fullback - like Fraser and Perenara I think he was pumped to get the opportunity to show his hometown crowd what he could do. Fraser maybe tried a little too hard to impress tonight and came up with a few errors, and I was glad that Perenara got a shot at first grade, he did a good job and didn't seem at all fazed by the situation. I agree with GW about Weston, he was very impressive for the second week running and I can see him pushing for a starting berth later in the season, he is progressing nicely and shows a lot of maturity in his play. I am sure Ricky would have been very pleased with everyones effort tonight, it was a real backs to the wall effort in difficult circumstances. There also seems to be a great team spirit there - being at the game I could see the guys encouraging each other when someone made a mistake, they all showed plenty of commitment and determination. Hopefully we can really kick on from here and make this season something special.

Yes Covell did OK out there tonight Nulla - you might be interested to know that he topped the tackle breaks alongside Birdy, with 5. He is by no means the most naturally gifted winger, but he always puts in and usually comes up with some pretty useful plays during the course of a match.

Didnt Covell set up a try in the second half when he had no room to move so he chiped over and bird ended up scoring. Personally i thought he done pretty good tonight, his goal kick he missed that would of made it 14-12 was a bad miss but other than that, not to bad, we all know the penalty kick was missed on purpose.

Yes he did Matts, I am just watching the replay and he ran out of room on the last and put the centering kick in for Birdy to dot down. Dykes was the one who threw the pass to Covell, before being flattened late and high by Logan Swann, so if we hadn't of scored, we would have got the penalty.

Covell had a fine game.

He had that bomb covered, but there was a miscommunication. Hardly surprising seeing as Misi was playing out of position and it was their first game together.

Covell

I don't understand why people are so down on Covell. I thought he played well tonight.

As far as kicking goes he has a 77% success rate so far this year. That is nothing to sneeze at.

And that in field chip/bomb tonight I thought was quite impressive.

No one is saying (ex Peach or Jigsaw) that he is the greatest winger ever. But don't forget the supposed greatest winger (Lote) said he would play for us for $500k per annum and on this site, we all said that was too much for a winger. So we can't have it both ways.
