We should just drop Graham, Smith didnt play too bad. He put in more good kicks last night (which was about 2) than i have seen from Graham all season. I would like Kelly at halfback but if that means Graham at 5/8 i dont like it. Smith/Townsend 7, Kelly 6 and Graham can go jump for all i care.
That intercept was the final straw for me.

I don`t actually think Smith was that bad. I liked his high kicks which put pressure on the opposition under the ball, which with a bit of luck would have got us repeat sets, thats something I think we have been missing this year.

If the Pomeroy catch had of stuck people would have been commenting on his brilliance.

We don't have great cover in this area that is for sure. Graham is a kid and with some specific training will get much better. What is happening with Baz working with the half's. I would happy to see Smith at half and Kelly at 6. J smith can push into the 2nd row with Gal. Graham can go to lock or the bench. Toops, Buggie can go onto the bench.

I don’t mind ur idea of graham going to lock, but when i said that before the season started, my head got bitten off on this forum saying “y u taking the best lock out of his position?”, don’t get me wrong, gal is the best backrower in the game and by far my fav player.
I just think from an attacking perspective, graham at 13 is better, therefore you can have either toups or smith off the bench for impact/momentum, which we lack at the moment. Plus look at the size of the kid.
I really wouldn’t mind seeing 6kelly 7porter 8snowy 9morris 10douggie 11toups 12gal 13 graham 14 jsmith 15cordoba 16vave 17dont care whether aiton/flano

Lets end this Porter ****. Smith played well last night, Graham let him down. But I think Townsend and Kelly will be our long term halves... eventually. Graham should be at 17, and play as an impact type second 5/8 when he comes on. I think Tim Smith and Graham are our best options atm though. No Porter.

The problem is we have 2 five-eigths running on the field in Kelly and Graham. I say confidently that Graham will end up as a ball playing lock.
I wouldn't mind seeing:
6. Kelly
7. Smith

11. Gallen
12. Smith
13. Graham

14.Tupou
15. Bukuya

kelly 7... called for it at the start, he is brilliant, preston campbell brilliant

Chad > Porter

Mate, you may need to refresh your memory, look at the thread "sharks forever first choice 2011 : Halves. Alot of predictions there.

Ya joking. That is all we need.

No mate, fair dinkum, one of the guys on here that is close to the club maybe able to shed some light on it. Like I said, I read it somewhere, but Baz was going to be employed as the halves coach, which was reported by the club, but has been no where to be seen. No mention of him in the coach staff section on the official website either. Something doesn't add up.

In my opinion our club is not far away from capitulation - the structure of our play is acceptable for only the 1st 20 minutes - The quality of players is ok - when Dougie and Kade are benched we look very very ordinary. Loosing Luke and now facing loss of Kade.... we are in big big trouble as a club. The NRL renews the franchises at year end - will the Sharks be offered another 5 years ???? The NRL will way many factors crowds, debt etc and our club will be at the bottom of the list. The boys must be suffering and i feel for them.

This is what scares me. That we want be around after 2013. I think the time is fast approaching to know the exact position we are in.

Exactly, we need a local team as we appear to be losing the shire.

People said the same thing about Lockyer when Bennett moved him to 5/8th. Graham is a lock and that's where he will end up. Granted he played 2 great games last year at half, but he is still a lock/five eight not half/ five eight. As for Gal play him tight, whether he is in the 13,12,11,10 or 8, dragging in 3 defenders and popping short balls. When he plays wide he gets in the way.

Bennett didnt have the Australia and NSW 5/8th in his team when he moved Lockyer there. Bennett didnt have the NZ 5/8th in the team as back up if the Australian NSW 5/8th was injured.

Put it this way. Would the cowboys move JT to 5/8th to allow Matt Bowen to go to Hlafback? No coz it would be ****in stupid

Why did we buy the NZ lock when he was going to play 2nd row ?
Answer: cause 1. He can play 2nd row AND
2. It was best for the team.
It's the role they play not the position. Basic coaching, putting players in the right roles for the betterment of the team.

The only reason we signed Jsmith is because he was the only player of high value that was willing to come to us. And the only reason he came to us is because he didnt want to move his family to Newcastle which is where Bennett told him to go.

And putting a youngster in a untried position for him when you have the top 2 in the world for that position in your team is just ****in stupid.

Hoffman is injured for the broncos right? And Ben Hunt is a pretty good 5/8th in juniors and its where he will end up in the future. Do they move Lockyer back to Fullback, Ben Hunt to 5/8th for the betterment of the team?
please answer me this.

IF it's for the betterment of the team, then Yes, move Lockyer. What we are taking about here is Wadeo, who appears to struggle at half as he is running 6 or 13. Smith and Gal are back rowers, so shuffle the pack. All you are doing is changing the numbers on their back but they are still playing the same. It is really not that hard to understand. Role is greater than position.

I dont see how moving our best most consistent player out of position limiting his role to accommodate someone else is better for the team. Do you?
