So it seems clear that Holmes isn't any better than Chad and we may need a kicker. Should we factor that in to recruitment plans? Or spend the off season re-evaluating current options?

I think Holmes is more likely to be an 80%+ kicker with training, so if we manage to extend him we should invest in him with specialist training. He is still young.

The commentators said it was quite windy today at ground level so I wouldn’t sack Val based on just today’s effort.

We don’t really have a gun kicker in the club at any level - even Kyle has had a poor year - so I guess it is definitely something for consideration in the off season.

Holmes is better than Chad, better kicker out wide, strikes it sweeter

Would like Val to be even better ofcourse but I think it will improve in time. Chad has enough on his plate anyway

I agree with that Gards, it is just that Holmes is now in the lower 70% for career and season (I believe). If we had a kicker at 80% this season we may have won the minor premiership.

Imagine if we’d kept Isaako, finished as leading point scorer this year. Ah well.

I’d persist with Val, Mark. We should know by now that if we show some patience with Val to get better at something, then he’ll deliver (Some folks on here learned that lesson on here with him). I say we back Val with the goal kicking into this years finals and next season.

If chad missed those kicks. They would be calling for him to be axed.
They weren't the easiest of kicks but those misses could make a massive difference in the finals.

I know he missed a few today but early on he was striking them sweetly. They just go straight. Very pretty to watch.

Stick with Val. I think he hits them sweet, either over the dot or miss today unfortunately. He'll nail those in a final. Steps up, big game player. I'd give it to him to kick a FG to win us a GF.

I want a forward that can kick goals.

I'd definitely give preference to a player that can kick in our recruitment at the moment. Don't know if I'd actively seek one out at the expense of general playing ability. Depends on what the plan is for Kyle too. I know he hasn't had a great year but he can kick.
