Gallen by a long way!
He is your sig, after all Lump Have to agree. Miller started a centre and it showed in his ball skills, smarts, and pace; all of which were better than gal's. a workhorse in defence too - i'd say the equal of gal in that dept. Miller was just brill to watch. he'd handle the ball at least twice a set and you'd be excited every time. hate to say it but, as tough, committed and uncompromising as gal is, when he gets the ball i'm holding my breath for different reasons...
Just out of curiosity I want to know who you guys think is/was the most influential out of these two.
Both similar type of players who played in different eras. Both back-rowers who led the club in difficult and trying times. They both work/worked their butts off to ensure the onfield success of the Sharks.
Miller was one of my favourite players growing up. Just played his guts out every game. Just like one of my favourite players in Gallen does now.
So what are your thoughts?
gallen only because i was too young to watch Miller play
I would have to say Miller, I rate Gal up there but when you have players like Kurt Sorenson Les Davidson and Ken Maddison at there best Gal might scrape into the top five but as for pure passion and loyalty Miller and Gal would be the top two, A lot of you would not of seen Miller play at his peek but I went to a function at another club where the late Jack Gibson was asked who was the most dominate player he had ever seen and he said Gavin Miller he said you have the Sterlings, the Kennys, the Johns's in one class then you have a class of its own above that with Gavin Miller
my fondest memories as a kid was watching barry russel take short balls off gavin miller best ball playing forward I have ever seen.and copped heaps ,late takles high shots but he very rarely stayed down
Its funny when the list of top 100 all time players were made he didn't rate just shows you how much jurnos know
