The problem with refereeing in the modern game is how fast it is.

Players don’t help the cause when they are constantly sniping at the referees throughout the match, I wish they would just let things continue instead of arguing and throwing their arms up in the air at EVERY tackle.

At this stage I'd take an AI referee over these morons.
Howlers by the on-field ref? It sucks, but they can (more often than not) be forgiven. But, the bunker? An with these pseudo psychological explanations about intent and some other **** like that.

You're right. That is another extremely annoying issue. Personnally, I'd go "changeover, ball to the other side" everytime a player raises his arms above the horizontal to appeal for a penalty. They'd stop real quick.
