Both are mongrels and work their ass off, but Gallen gets in the face of the opponent more and put them off their game trying to get back at Gallen. While Hindy just does his job.

HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, omg, I havent had a good laugh for a while, so I would like to personally like to thank the parra supporters for giving me a good chuckle.

I have never, ever, ever seen hindmarsh single handedly "impose" himself in a game so much that you sit back and say "holy sh*t!!" Yes his statistically he impresses, especially defensively, but I have never, ever seen him break the line, run someone over and storm across the try line.

Gallen on the other hand breaks game after game wide open, he has defenses sh*tting themselves each game, and he also has opposition attack terrified because they dont know what is going to be grabbed in the tackle... thier balls.. thier eyes....

Gal is the best foward in the game.

Hindmarsh might have centimental value because of his 300 games or whatever, but on the field, gallen would destroy hindmarsh.

Haha I agree. No match. Gallen is twice the player Hindmarsh is. Evidence enough was the four nations.

cant agree with you on that one peach, hindmarsh is the typical kind of hoffman/dallas johnson back rower, they are a dime a dozen, gals is one of a kind, damaging as f*ck.

Bird like ;)

you lot are kidding arent you [beside the fact both are 2 very different types of players]..id kill for gallen to belike hindmarsh...more work horse, less f*ckwit

cant compare 2 very different types of players

Gal is still such a big work horse, but Gal still has that intimidation, in your face attribute on the field, which doesnt coincide with his grubbyness, which Hindmarsh doesnt possess, Hindmarsh is almost emotionless or robotlike on the field.

Defensively both great, Gallen has alot more in attack and gets some good offloads away.

Both great backrowers with huge workrates, but I think Gal has more footy left in him than Hindy does.

Both have big work rates. Gal can do more with the ball in his hand. His off loads are more. Hindy does his work really well and is one of those blokes that every team would kill for. He doesn't make any waves and is a low key bloke to boot.

Tough call. IMO Gallen is better now and creates better attacking opportunities but my main reason is because Hindmarsh is closing in on retirement and not the player he once was. Also Gal def has more passion, no question.

If both in their prime i'd probably choose Hindmarsh because of the trouble Gal always seems to find himself in.

Are you kidding peach? When Gal is on his game and actually playing for something (Four Nations 2009) he shows just how much of a work horse he can be. Just take a quick look at some of the stats from the Four Nations and you will be amazed at how much better he performed than any other forward. Only Ben Hannant rivals his stats and he plays on the other side of the pack, so there is no real comparison between the two.

For mine, no contest. Gal is a match winner both in attack and defence. Can offload from just about anywhere, takes at least two or three to pull down and produces some savage hits. Hindmarsh is a tireless defender who consistently pops up to make miraculous try saving tackles, often running down backs! However, he doesn't really provide much spark in attack, although he is always there in support.

Strangely, they are both what would be called loyal "Club-men" as they are both one club players but apart from that, their value to their Clubs is fairly different. Hindmarsh's value is in his work ethic, never say die attitude and "good guy" reputation, whilst Gallen's work lies in his unbridled aggression and a reputation as an "enforcer".

Ultimately, whilst I would love to see them both in the black, white and blue, I would never trade Gallen for Hindmarsh - or anyone else come to think of it.:good:

Paul Gallen wants to quit Sharks and has opened negotiations with Tigers and Manly

CRONULLA star Paul Gallen wants to quit the Sharks - and he has begun secret negotiations with Wests Tigers and Manly.

In a bombshell that will rock Cronulla's off-season, The Daily Telegraph can reveal Gallen is looking to play elsewhere in 2010 because he feels aggrieved by the club's hardline response to his on and off-field indiscretions.

After being stripped of the captaincy and fined $10,000 for a racial slur earlier this year, the aggressive international was last week slugged a further $10,000 for urinating in public.

Although half the latest penalty was suspended, Gallen is privately fuming and has told friends he no longer feels inclined to return to Sharks training after the Christmas break.

Despite having a further two years to run on his current deal, the 28-year-old now wants out immediately.

In the week since the fine was imposed, approaches have been made on Gallen's behalf to the Tigers and Sea Eagles. Both clubs have shown interest in poaching the firebrand back-rower - provided they can accommodate him under their 2010 salary cap. Manly would appear to be in the box seat after Matt Orford's $250,000 contract extension talks collapsed last month.

The Sea Eagles could use that money to lure Gallen to the peninsula, where he would complete the NRL's most formidable back-row alongside Anthony Watmough and Glenn Stewart.

But stand-in CEO Wayne Honeywood last night said the preliminary talks only related to 2011.

"We've got two high-profile back-rowers (Watmough and Stewart) coming off contract and we wouldn't want to jeopardise that," Honeywood said.

The Tigers have less space after embarking on a 2010 recruitment blitz, which will soon include dual international Lote Tuqiri.

Wests CEO Steve Humphreys confirmed an approach had been made to his club, but declined to comment further on the matter.

Few, if any, of Cronulla's administrators know of the depth of their former captain's discontent.

Just three months shy of kicking off his 10th season at the Sharks, Gallen feels damning public comments from several Sharks officials don't befit his commitment to the black, white and blue.

The obvious sticking point for Gallen moving on is the fact he's contracted to Cronulla until the end of 2011.

However, there have been high-profile players in the recent past such as Craig Wing and Mark Gasnier who have escaped existing deals because their third-party payments have not been met.

Gallen is not required back at Sharks training until January 4.

Gallen's record of on-field controversy has landed him the game's longest judiciary record.

He's also fronted the Sharks board over a series of hot-headed acts, including pulling a player's head bandage and allegedly squeezing another's testicles.

It's all bollocks and he's returning to training, nice try though.
