For 3 rounds I'd rather Todd at 1 and Wade back at 6 .. Todd can still play 2nd receiver in attack if need be .. Wright is not a fullback but at least he'll run it back hard. Ike is back in Round 10 and is who I'd like to see .. Leave the kid in the U20's he's not developed enough yet. Hotdog could also do a decent job.

No leave Carney at 6, am sure he'll do a bit of fullback cover and keep an eye on Wright - he seems to be at the back defusing some bombs etc as it is.

I would have given either Luke Pickerd or Isaac Gordon a go at fullback. Matty Wright is a good solid player, but we really need a nippy little guy in the back line who will be there to back up the guy who breaks the line. This is where Gards was so good. We still have the third lowest points scored in the comp, and I think a more attacking option would have been better. The sharks have always looked good in defence at the start of the last few seasons, but frustrations of not being able to get across the try line enough can cause all sorts of problems including lots of dropped ball and defence lapses.

I'd like to see the stats and I could be wrong but Gards really hasn't impressed me much this year in his line breaking stats. And he blew that try from the Fifita break on Sat.

I think it wll be interesting seeing matt wright at fullback this week. Hes not got the speed of Gardner but hes no slouch, and it will be very interesting to see how a taller, stronger player fairs when supporting our forwards and busting through on offloads. Quite a number of times this year we have done some magical play in the opposition 20 to see gardner put through a hole and be rag dolled down. A straight running Wright may bring better results. heres hoping!

that is a good point. Gardner is great until someone touches him. he's gotta be a lord at touch footy. hopefully someone a bit bigger can fend a few off and make better use of any line breaks

I agree he hasn't been at his best this year. You gotta admit though, it has probably taken a bit of time to get some confidence back after the dakking that he got from big Jamal last year!:glasses-cool:

I don't. I've always been a fan of his and I think he's got some ball skills, but I seriously doubt he'll be anything better than passable on Sunday. I hope I'm wrong.

I hope even more that people take it easy on him if he doesn't meet their expectations.

Best case scenario he is safe at the back and has tough kick return metres. Expect anything more and be disappointed.
