lol Darren Bent

Darren Bent sorry for denigrating Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Twitter
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ng-Spurs-chairman-Daniel-Levy-on-Twitter.html

Darren Bent has apologised for his outburst against Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy on his Twitter website, but still faces the prospect of being internally disciplined and fined two weeks' wages.

Having been withdrawn from the flight to Beijing on Monday for Tottenham's pre-season tour of Asia, Bent became increasingly irritated by the failure of Spurs to conclude a potential £14 million deal with Sunderland.

A succession of comments were then posted on his Twitter site. They read: "Do I wanna go Hull City. No. Do I wanna go Stoke. No. Do I wanna go Sunderland. Yes. So stop ******* around Levy.

By 5.30pm on Friday Bent had issued a statement on the Tottenham website. "I appreciate that transfers are seldom straightforward and are often complex," he said. "However, after a long period of waiting following my withdrawal from the plane to China, I had become incredibly frustrated by the time these things take and I posted inappropriate comments on my Twitter site.

"I allowed my emotions to get in the way of my better judgment. I regret my actions and did not intend to offend Daniel Levy or anyone with the nature or the content of my posting."

Tottenham, meanwhile, lifted the Premier League Asia Trophy yesterday with a 3-0 win against Hull City following two goals from Robbie Keane and one from Aaron Lennon. Manager Harry Redknapp stressed that it was Tottenham's prerogative to hold out for the deal they wanted for Bent.

"It is up to whoever wants to buy him to pay what the club wants and if they don't then there is no deal – that's football," he said.

With Tottenham hoping to recoup as much as possible from the initial £16.5 million they paid for Bent, Sunderland manager Steve Bruce said that it was now only 50-50 that they would secure the deal.

"Footballers aren't just objects," he said. "There's a human being in this who is obviously caught up in the middle and wants his future sorted out.

"We thought we had a deal done a couple of days ago and it has not quite materialised. There's a couple of other clubs showing an interest. We will do our utmost to get the deal over the line."

Real Madrid insure Cristiano Ronaldo's legs for £90 million
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...e-Cristiano-Ronaldos-legs-for-90-million.html

Cristiano Ronaldo's legs have reportedly been insured for £90 million by Real Madrid.

Real paid a world record £80m for the Portuguese winger when they signed him from Manchester United in June.

The fear is that teams will target the 24-year-old World Player of the Year for rough treatment on the pitch and so the Sun reports that Real have moved swiftly to protect their investment should Ronaldo pick up a long-term injury.

Real president Florentino Perez has spent almost £200m on new signings in an attempt to wrestle the La Liga and Champions League titles away from fierce rivals Barcelona.

Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul Albiol and Alvaro Arbeloa have also been brought to the Bernabeu, while Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is the subject of a £25m bid.

However, Ronaldo is the icing on the cake for Perez and with the player having been fouled 34 times already in just three pre-season friendlies, Perez needs to ensure the club is covered in case of a serious knock.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo's £5.5m former home in Cheshire has been bought by new Manchester City signing Emanuel Adebayor.

Kolo Toure, Gareth Barry, Carlos Tevez and Antonio Valencia also put in bids for the property in Alderley Edge, which has an indoor pool, jacuzzi, gym and cinema room

Welcome to Anfield Alberto!
He's to take over the famous number 4 shirt from Sami Hyypia.
The famous number 7 shirt is still left vacant, possibly to await its new owner, David Silva??;)
