how long do you think ten haag has left? personally i thought he'd be sacked by now.

Reports are he has the next two games.

Regardless with how this turns out, he deserved another shot under the new structure. If Porto and Villa go the same way as the Spurs game, I think they might make a move and give the job to Ruud.

I feel a bit sorry for Erik, some of these players are about to get their fourth manager sacked yet they wont see any consequences. In saying that, Erik hasn’t helped himself with some strange decisions and clear favouritism to someone like Rashford who hasn’t delivered for him and was one of the players that downed tools.

I actually thought, apart from dropping Diallo for Rashford, he got the team selection right against Spurs. Martinez and De Ligt are the best CB pairing moving forward. Mainoo and Ugarte in the midfield is the best balance they can get. It’s a pity they have no LB at the moment, Dalot had done an admirable job up until the Spurs game where is unraveled for him.

Bruno also needed to be benched, as hard as that is, he’s been abysmal the past two games and the red card against Spurs pretty much summed it up. At least now Eriksen will likely get a go at number 10 while Bruno serves his suspension.

It all comes down to these two games for him, but no regrets in leaving him in the role after the FA Cup final. Any manager would have deserved a chance under an actual proper structure that they have now.

There in a no win situation. They do it now they have to start all over again.

Thats my biggest concern, they cant afford to do another rebuild. Its more likely they’ll give the job to Ruud who would be able to work with the current players.

Ruud hasn’t done anything worthy of being a Utd manager. Surely a club of that stature can attract better.

Someone like Ruben Amorim would be a smart move

I agree. However, it gets tricky when you start trying to pry managers away when the season has already started. Also, Amorim may just suffer the same fate as ETH. If I had to take someone for now, it'd probably be Tuchel, who at least is available, has experience of the prem and let him take charge till the end of the season.

Just despair when I think of yet another manager crushed by the combination of cultural rot, weight of expectation and players who, once again, look like they couldn't give a toss. ☹️

P.S. Matt. Bruno has successfully appealed his red card, so no Eriksen at 10 I'm afraid. Why VAR couldn't have pointed that out during the actual f**king game is beyond me. It was a ridiculous red and I fail to see how replays didn't show that to the clowns at VAR. Spurs probably still would have won handsomely but it pretty much effectively killed any chance we had of even scrambling a draw.

In the interim I meant, Ruud would be the manager for the rest of the season.

Didn’t Tuchel already turn down chance to manage Utd?

Also let’s be real, it shouldn’t be too hard for a club like Utd to pry a manager away from Sporting Lisbon, but I hear your point.

Even if it means Ruud to the end of the season and then Amorim from next season on.

The Ridge!
Who is the Baggie here, Chad? No match for the Boro!
Mate we played terrible. I don't know if we had injuries certain players were nursing but we were a rabble. Boro definitely deserved their win.

Our midfield was non existent giving our guy up front Maja no chance to create anything. We started with the wrong 11, our two midfield stalwarts were replaced by two guys who had hardly played with each other. I don't know how it was still 0-0 at half time and still that score deep into the game. Boro should have been up by 2 or 3 goals at that stage.

We are back at the Hawthorns on Saturday against Milwall, a traditionally tough side who have tall centre backs so we are going to have to be on our game. Lost our league lead as well with two losses in a row.

That referee needs to be investigated, he couldn’t get that red card out quick enough, he showed it with glee to Bruno…. Obviously im joking a little bit, but that ref was useless.

Further to that, it looks like Mainoo’s injury isn’t as bad as first thought. Could be back for the Villa game. So there’s two silver linings out of that disaster on the weekend.

In saying that, even if Bruno’s available, i wouldn’t pick him against Porto. He’s putrid form is actively hindering us at the moment, he needs to get his head together.

I’d pick Ugarte, either Mount or Casemiro (depending how we want to set up) with Eriksen in front of them.

Who I’d pick against Porto by the way:

Onana
Dalot
Mazroui (switching him and Dalot around for this one)
De Ligt
Martinez (c)
Ugarte
Casemiro (I know I know, but I have a feeling Porto will find it easier to get through a pivot with Mount in it instead of Case)
Eriksen
Diallo
Garnacho
Holjund (Not dropping Zirkzee, just rotation)

You underestimate how hard it is to deal with Portuguese clubs these days. The release fee would be far more than United could afford atm.

Look how much you spent on transfers, should be able to afford managers release fee

$25mil is the highest ever release fee paid for a manager

I believe it was something of a case of "I want control over this and all this" and the club said No. So Tuchel turned us down.

In any event, I know it's United but I do sometimes really wonder what manager in his right mind would want to try sorting out such a shitshow? Seems like no matter what we try, we end up with the same abject performances after a short period of new guy bounce.

And as you say Matt, I actually think Bruno could do with a couple of games off. He has looked very poor so far this season.

FFP also affects staff appointments and United are on the very edge of that. Also don’t forget United are about to build a new stadium. The cash isn’t available atm.

More scrutiny needs to be on the players that have got three or four managers sacked.

A lot of your current squad was signed by ETH though, right?

Onana
Mazraoui
De ligt
Martinez
Amrabat
Ugarte
Eriksen
Casemiro
Mount
Zirkzee
Holjund
Antony
Evans

And the ones that have since left

Malacia, Reguilon, Sabitzer, Weghorst

ETH also has backed Bruno, Rashford and Maguire quite publicly either with comments, selections or new contraxts

While he hasn’t been a total failure (2 trophies), after 3 seasons with all these signings, players that he wanted, the lack of progress is alarming and I see no signs of it changing.

As a Liverpool fan I hope he stays, and that tells you everything really
