If we retained Merritt people would only be pissing and moaning that it resulted in us letting another winger go who was performing well at his new club. Fact is we can't keep everyone, and players aren't just gonna perform sh!tty elsewhere - if they did, they wouldn't be in first grade. If we let a first grader, or fringe first grader go, don't be surprised when he's playing first grade elsewhere next season.

While I agree Weston would have been handy to have on board in case injury or suspension struck our back row, the fact is if it didn't happen, he'd get fed up with playing PL and end up leaving. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually summed up his situation at the Sharks, realised he has more opportunities at first grade in Nth.QLD and run with that. The same reason we got Anthony Watts. At the time he was behind Wing, Anasta, Pearce, Lewis and Soward for a halves spot at the Chooks, so come on board with us for the opportunities.

i wont be sad to see the back of Weston at the end of this year after last night's peformance, hardly did a thing n gave away a few stupid penalties. At the same time i'd take him over Ciraldo!!!

I reckon we should let Ciraldo go aswell if we let go Weston. Ciraldo is Hopeless with a capital H.

Not saying that we purposely let Weston go, maybe we couldnt afford him or match Cowboys offer. Just saying he's better than Ciraldo.

id rekon that nthqld will see him as a first grader not a back up backrower. they dont have much depth in their backrow, they have: o'donnell, southern, lillyman. apart from that there's not much so id say westo will be a regular 1st grader

Yeah, Ross should be locked up for obtaining a benefit by deception. The deception being that he thinks that he is worth 400k. I dont mind Ross as a footballer but he should seriously think about taking a paycut. To think that he is our highest paid player makes me shudder.

His contract is for 2008 and 2009 from memory. When it expires that **** better show some loyalty and resign for half of what he is on now. He has two more years to show us what he can do.

Has there been any official confirmation that Weston has signed with the Cowboys? If so he will be a real loss in my opinion, as he has showed great potential and enthusiasm in his first grade outings so far. I know we are blessed with talented backrowers but the loss of players through injury and suspension the last few weeks have really tested that depth and shown the value of Weston as a quality replacement. I know that we can't retain everyone due to salary cap constraints, but I would rather keep Weston than Ciraldo, or Ross for that matter.

i would keep ross over weston, but having said that i would prefer ross taking a pay cut. ciraldo has had many chances and to me he doesn't look like improving much more, i would prefer to bring back bailey rather than persist with ciraldo on the way that he s currently playing.
