Dont worry too much about it boys, we can't keep everybody and realistically he would not get a start if everyone was fully fit. I think he had good potential but I doubt he was ever going to evolve into anything other than just a solid first grader. Time will tell but dont go crying to much about it. 195, what's with you and the "board needs a change" all the time. I would suggest that they have very little to do with retention and recruitment when Ricky is there so give it a rest for a while hey?

i have only said it once, it is peachey who has been sayig it all the time, but with the loss of our youngsters i am beginning to think that the board need to look at our player retention.

Tef is spot on the money. We've gotta operate under a budget and fit 25 players into that budget. He's a second rower and we've got an abundance of second rowers. At full strength Reece Williams will be playing off the bench, which means Weston would be in PL awaiting injury in FG to get a gig. He'll probably be playing for the Young Guns at Nth.QLD anyway if the Cowboys are at full strength.

I agree with Tef and Capital, not a huge loss. Your whinging about getting rid of another fringe 1st grade player, much like Phil Leuluia. Good luck to the bloke I hope it turns out great for him, however we need to release as many players that don't fit Ricky's type of game to buy some outside backs we so desperately need.

i dont care that he left i think as you guys said he has talent but there isn't room for him here, i am worried that this may happen for other players that we need such as raftery, brown and henry, we need to keep the future stars.

Wait a second. I keep on hearing about all the young players/juniors we are losing. Can someone please tell me the name of a player that we have lost that was young and is playing consitantly good 1st grade footy at another club?

Matt King?
Galloway?
Youngquest?
Merrit?

One for the future
Tony Caine?

Only 2 of them would make our 1st grade side and neither were juniors.

Preston = 100% agree with this one.
King = Which supporter can honestly say that at the time it was a mistake for us to let him go?

The above 2 are not young !!

Galloway = Just a 1st grader, nothing special.
Youngquest = Waste of space in a salary cap.
Merrit = Showed nothing with us.

They were young when they left.

Travis Burns?

Merrit = Showed nothing with us.

Looks to have shown enough in my book. We did not re-sign for 06 after a year like that?

what blew it for merrit was an opposition player made a break and scored a try from it and he appeared to just be jogging along behind a player he should have easily caught. at the time i was like wtf is he doing?!
and the commentators agreed, and that was it for him after that

merritt was scoring all the points in PL tearing it up and wasnt given a fair go...one game he scored 40 points!

Of course he wasnt given a go. But in order for him to get a go it would have meant dropping Covell to PL. I could only have imagined the blow ups on here if that had of happened on a permanant basis but it would have been the right call IMO.
