Good luck with Stapo bro.

Stapo's strength and conditioning is the least of his (stapo) worries. Stapo first needs work on kick-offs, catching the ball, marking the winger, finishing, and tackling. Pretty much everything except dummy half runs.

So basically he needs to learn how to play footy

Pretty **** if you ask me. The Dragons (when he was there) and the Rabbits, are 2 of the worst teams in the NRL when it comes to playing 80mins of football

The ability to compete for the full 80 with NRL teams has little to do with fitness. It's all the mentality.

what i find funny/ludicrous is that trent elkins background was long distance running or endurance based, yet our teams haven't been able to last a whole football game for a long time, i mean come on!

ive always said that a strength and conditioning coach with a background for endurance in a clearly power based sport in rugby league is not ideal.

while endurance is important its not the be all and end all of rugby league, what i like about the new David Boyle is that he actually has football experience as well as the same qualifications that elkin has.

now people will tell you theres no difference between strength and conditioning coaches with different backgrounds, but theres a big bloody difference!

now ive worked in the fitness industry for the last 6 years, and ive worked with personal trainers who have the same degrees as elkin and boyle, and im twice the trainer most of the "university qualified" guys are,

they are pretty much glorified egg heads. these trainers wouldn't even practice what they preach, and i learned a lot of the stuff they know by myself and a **** load more than they would ever know by pactical experience and researching areas they would blow off

the point im getting at is while elkin may have the same degree as boyle he doesnt have that oh so important aspect of actually having played rugby league, and scratching my head at how an endurance specialist coach cant get our guys any endurance

ive always said that no matter what you do in life you have to practice what you preach.

You should have applied Timmy, Sharks may have employed the wrong guy.

Glad Elkin has gone. It was time for a change in that area. Boyle has a great background, currently strength and conditional coach with ARU High performance unit.
Was a very tough player. Was integral member in one of the best pack of forwards ever.

haha cheers mate, but im nowhere near qualified, while im good at what i do, and can coach people in strength and conditioning, sharks are a professional sports team and you need all bases covered when working ith professional athletes

plus even if your qualified its tht hard to get your foot in the door at these sporting organisations

Apparently he is the current wallabies strength and conditioning coach, which doesn't fill me with confidence
