That is what I like most about this site, the respect we all have for each other and the club. It is great to see the new board getting invloved with the fans. If we can continue to come up with ideas we can see some real changes.

Keep up the good work you blokes!

I fully agree about the respecting thing, apart from maybe sandman.......lol.

Each year we think "maybe next year" & the seasons go past under the previous administration without too much change,it was always "steady as you go" & got nowhere.I've never seen an off season with so many changes (for the positive!) Great work to "damo" for taking the time to acknowledge the administrators&Excellent work to the Administrators of this site.Bring on season 2010!

Love your work Damo. Just one of many reasons why I'm becoming more and more proud of our Club every day. We are truly leading the way as a Club now, let's hope the fans follow!:cheers

This bloke just sold himself a membership, reading this seriously is going to make me buy one, its little things like this that make all the difference to the fans, and would make supporters actually want to go to games.

Too true hitman, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for calling you a tool in another thread. We are all entitled to our opinions without ridicule. We are all Sharks fans & as such should stick together, I think Irvine is on the right track!

Welcome to our website Damian and thanks for your communication and your kind words - I hope you will check in here regularly. The feeling I get is that most supporters are generally very encouraged by the new direction in which our club is headed, after the disastrous season just gone. "Cautious optimism" I think is the phrase that best describes my own feelings for 2010 and onwards - is there any other way for a Sharks fan?

One thing that myself and I am sure plenty of others are having misgivings over is the Greg Bird situation - presumably you are in possession of all the facts regarding the decision not to offer him a new contract and hopefully are able to set the record straight on the stance taken by the club. As you alluded to in your letter, communication between the club and its supporter base has not always in the past been all that it could be and there has been a decided lack of transparency at times.

Richard Fisk stated in the official press release on the day that Greg's conviction was quashed, that “the Sharks have moved on in a new direction and will not be attempting to re-sign Greg Bird”; whereas in his Sunday Telegraph column earlier in the season Ricky Stuart wrote that he would like to see Greg back at the club in the future. I would appreciate it if you could let us know whether any consideration at all was actually given to offering Greg a new contract, the processes and parties involved in making such a decision, and the reasons the club arrived at this decision.

Thank you, and best wishes for the coming season.

I'm not sure if Damian could answer that on here for legal reasons. Do we really need Greg Bird? I will always love him as a player but this whole thread is about how the club has moved on and how much more positive the club looks this year with the overhaul and I think the cattle we have will perform and place us back to the form of 08.

Might as well bring Bird back. Seems like he's gonna be the topic of conversation even when he's clearly not the topic of conversation.

You put the fans at peace over Greg Bird, Mr. Irvine, and you'll have jumped a massive hurdle. I think everyone wants to get on board and head in the new, exciting direction the Club is going but they're (we're? I think I'm confused too) held back because too much thought still hangs back on the decision for the Club and Bird to go their separate ways.

I understand it wasn't the current mob's decision and its not of significance to where you want to go from now. But clearly it is still of significance to a large chunk of the fan base. Almost every thread on this forum mentions Bird somewhere, and on the Sharks Facebook thing regardless of the news thats been posted up every 2nd reply is about why the Club should or shouldn't get Bird back.

I understand too that for certain different reasons you might not be able to, or even want to, disclose all the details, but I think you'll be able to muster up a lot more focused support if you can manage to provide some closure on the matter.

Otherwise, good job so far, Damian and all involved. For the admins and mods that eep this place going; well everyone should finish every post like a prayer giving a little 'thank you' for the underpaid and under-appreciated selfless efforts you put in.

UP UP CRONULLA!
