Wow if that is ture I would like to know what the thinking is behind it. Cabra are a strong club and have been doing well in the Bundy cup. Maybe they were looking for a way to get into the NSW cup. If is saves us some money then it may be ok

yes it is true

joint venture with cabra [who are moving up into the NSW Cup i think from bundy cup]

our reserves will play for them and we get a chance to snare any good youngsters from the parra area [parra still get first crack at juniors as cabra is a parra district team of course]

good money saver as well

win/win situation

The Reggies didn't play many games before 1st grade anyway. I hope it works out. We tried this with Newtown some years ago and that didn't work out.

I understand the reasoning behind this to an extent. However, I see this sort of thing as really destructive to local community ownership of a team. I think it waters down the tie of a team to a region.

I love watching players come up through the ranks from juniors through to first grade and watch them grow and develop as players and people along the way.

I hate the way League is going. It's losing contact with itself.

Totally agree.

I think that this is something that the Independent Commission needs to address.

What great value it could be $25.00 for a reserved seat to watch presidents cup reserve grade and 1st grade. A full days entertainment it also gives the lower grades a boost by playing in front of a larger crowd. mmmmm the good old days

It's so simple, yet for some reason it's so difficult to achieve.

Yes it was great back in the day when you could watch all 3 grades on the same day. Most people don't have time for that now. You only have to look at the Toyota Cup crowds. There are not too many people there.

Watching all three grades was just the best. When I was a youngster (many moons ago!!), I used to love getting to the ground at 12pm watch the Under 23s or Presidens Cup as it was called and then watch the reserve grade game. You could see the atmosphere building up and when it got closer to the First Grade your heart started racing and the adrenilen was pumping.

As Fitzy said, you could watch the younger players coming through the ranks and point out those you thought were destined for greatness.

There was none of this 40 minutes between the First grade and reserve great either - we just had the players trooping off after reserve grade and then with no fanfare at all, the First grade would come on and away we would go!

I really miss these days. Today, we have the Toyota Cup, which is not bad standard but the gap in between these games is really annoying. Sorry, I know I'm a bit off topic here but when I think of it there is no real entertainment between the games just Glen Wheeler rambling on.

Who can remember the old ground announcer who sounded about 80 in the shade and just gave the try scorer and the game score and that was all you heard from him. Does anyone know who he was and if he is still around?

I could reminisce on here for ages people but I think I've said enough. Having all three grades in any capacity at every game should happen again.

Chad,

Mate, I'm with you. I get a bit teary when I think about how good going to the footy used to be. At least it was believable then - now it's a farce.

I guess we're a soon to be extinct breed us old dinosaurs like you and I... you know - old buggers who actually love the game and love our Sharkies... love our local juniors and love our community.

Yeah, and we could remember the good old days where there were actually players with an over-supply of consonants in their names like Ziggy Niszczot.

Now, if only I could remember where I left my car keys.

From what i was told they intend to play NSW cup after the Bundy cup on Saturday nights around 7;30 in the two blues .They might be called the cabra sharks i don't know. Dont worry about parra getting first pick of their juniors that dosent happen any more if we want them we have to sign them.
