It wasn't that long ago I ran into a guy who works in the marketing department, pretty senior. Might be one of the guys getting the boot. Something interesting he said when I asked about Barry is that he was putting the broom through the place, getting rid of Liam's "guys". He elluded to them being on way too much money, not needed or not good enough.

This was about 6 months ago. So whether the redundancies are anything to do with that I'm not sure but wouldn't be surprised if it was part true and it's not just about us saving money, it's about us not spending excess money where it's not needed.

Are you referring to Liam Tapper? He didn't have any "guys" and was replaced with a part timer such was his contribution. He was a nobody with a big social media presence and a closet Souths supporter.

The only people on too much money at the Sharks are the executives, some of the players and Flano. The rest are on peanuts.

They've probably accounted for the expenses from the digital/media dept itself that are dropped, rather than just wages in the $1.5m.

I find this interesting, how much is he on?

I'm guessing he could get a lot more at other clubs given his track record.

You'd imagine so, Nathan Brown probably makes a ****load more than Flanno.

That's a good call, could be a lot of event & production expenses included not specifically just wages

So are you just going to direct your disgust at the new guy that wasn't around when the **** happened, or the people that are actually responsible for it?

All your replies to me are replies that don’t respond to what I’ve actually said... you just reply with another question. Read what IÂ’ve written to you and try replying with substance.

We’ve been at the bottom of the comp for so long.. the people at the top realised we needed to bend the rules like every other club does or else we are going nowhere and we would have to fold (that’s just the way it is) so we actually got somewhere

..now that we got there ..this brand new guy turns us in over a minimal amount without knowing the politics/ins and outs of the NRL, now we have more debt, ruined our image, we hardly have any sponsors, the NRL are bending us over, we can’t even get the purchase of a new computer approved and weve sacked more then half our staff - we are struggling.

Further to that the CEO has bought no new sponsor on board with his personal connections since he’s been appointed to help alleviate the pressure. Like I said if every other club were to self report on discrepancies the whole NRL would be under investigation.

I have 100% no doubt he regrets doing us in, it affects our ability to get sponsors and attract third parties which is why we’re in this hole.
I hope he knows what he’s doing if not HeÂ’s an idiot. End of story

Mate I have no idea what other clubs do and don't do. Of course some have cheated the cap to various degrees but I don't know how many do.

I think people are over reacting. If the rumours of it being relatively minimal then not much will come of it and we move on.

I have no issue with Russell self-reporting. Maybe the NRL world is different, I don't know. But blaming a CEO for doing the right thing imo is silly.

The thing is it doesn't matter that we did the right thing. Other teams supporters lay the boot in, are calling for our heads etc. They are quick to forget other cap issues of other teams or their own team. Also, the NRL does seem to treat certain teams different, as I have said previously. Perhaps it is due to the politics within the NRL that the more, so-called prestigious clubs are able to pull strings better, scratch a back to have them look the other way and so forth. I would not be surprised with that kind of act from the likes of Broncos, Roosters etc. Either way, hopefully the bloke in charge of our team has not just shafted us without lube into oblivion.

If they take it easy on us for self reporting and we still get shafted into oblivion it was obviously incredibly bad, and presumably would have turned up at some point.

The self reporting may just be the difference between a light shafting (just the tip) and a lubeless oblivion shafting, we will just have to wait and see.

I think we all need to settle down a bit.

Wait until we hear the full story before reacting.

I think we should just wait and see what happens.

And oh yes. I think we should shoot Wizard.

He’ll keep singing his song
Though he’s constantly wrong
And I wish that he were lost in a blizzard

You're right.. The NRL world is different its not this innocent business place and most people know clubs bend the rules, its a given .. most people also know there are favourites - Roosters/Broncos/Storm fk it every other club would be laughing at him and us for doing that. It had nothing to do with him, it was 3 years ago, it wasn't affecting us or his role currently and he did not know why these people did those things.

He should've just turned the other cheek deleted what evidence that still was there and moved on, Greenberg would've been licking his lips and would love seeing us desperate and asking for money.

Blaming a CEO for doing the right thing is stupid (In a perfect world) If we were last then yeah fair enough maybe we are deserving of a investigation and a clean out but to do it when we were fast becoming one of the top 3 clubs with a franchise coach is just stupid especially over the minimal amount it is.. at least bring some sponsors over while you anal the club dkhead. In your head, rent free
Im all for Barry cutting useless people. Our social media is awful, our press releases are diabolical.
Newcastle are killing the digital content, one guy does it.
As for the development, I lost faith in it when Irvine was taken off overseeing it.
Yes I got behind Unity, yes they did some good things, but we are the same old.
Im glad we won it, because I dont care about the club all that much anymore.
