I believe this is Crazy Matt's preference.
It seems to be the combination based more on demonstrated skill than finger crossing for young players, with a mix of distain for Moylan.

Tbf though any lineup with Moyza these days has to come with a certain degree of finger crossing. And given Hynes was one of the breakout players of the comp last year, and Moylan has lead us to a prelim and played for Aus, they aren’t as clear a selection as they should be.

As much as I wouldn’t have minded extending Moyza we win more games than we lose when he plays. @350k could be a brilliant decision to keep him, not too painful if his legs implode again as we have solid backups who can slot straight in

I know I'm not as qualified as Fitz but a Hynes and Moylan combo does not give me confidence at all.

Zero long kicking game. Happy to be proven wrong.
Moyza refusing to kick last season is my biggest issue with the combo. He can kick okay though, if he does kick I think they’ll be fine. If he/club still feels like he shouldn’t that’ll be a big issue.

LOL. Its great to know your thinking of me boo.

Yeah this is precisely my biggest concern as well. This is the biggest reason Moylan/Hynes will…..not……work. If Fitz is actually mental enough to go with this then I hope will all my being that im proven wrong, I would love to be proven wrong here.

I don’t think we are looking at just our six and seven to kick. There’s also Wade, McInnes and Brailey. Perhaps Fitz plans to get those three more involved especially Brailey and McInnes from dummy half.

We have a good halves pairing in there somewhere. Just wish we would sign a halves coach. Could Benji be worth a go there?

That would be a great strategy.
Spreads the threat for opposition teams who can’t then focus on targeting one kicker as we have too many options.
Helps put us on the front foot with more variety.

Agreed WS. If Fitz is hell bent on putting Moylan at six, and that’s fine as an attacking option, we know he’s not a kicker so you would think he’ll have a plan B with others.

I think MM is ok though with little kicks close to their line.

This is a good point - Wade can be positioned just outside Moylan for his long kicking game .

I also love the early kick from dummy half - everyone onside and opposition wingers up …

Love to have more kicking options
2016 we had wade (in a pinch) ennis chad and Maloney, even lewy chimes in with the occasional remember that one in semi v raiders. The ability to kick from dummy half is what I want to see more of. Can we start a season 22 countdown already mods.

Hynes / Moylan is a deadset shocking pairing.

Hynes has done next to no kicking in first grade and Moylans kicking game has been horrendous.

Would of thought a even half decent kicker would of been a priority.

Moylan does nothing but completely disrupt the team. Now he is going to have Hynes shoed into 7, then Moylan goes down first week and mixes the team up again to make trindall the 7…

Would even much rather invest the time in Metcalf.

I get the love for Metcalf and I agree we want to keep him…..

“A lot of people wouldn’t know, but Nicho has only just started playing fullback in the last 12 to 18 months,” Fitzgibbon said. “He actually grew up as a half, and he’s been a half most of his life. We signed him as a half.

“What that looks like? I’m not sure. I haven’t even watched a training session with our existing halves, but competition for spots makes everything competitive.
“We’ve got four really good halves on our books. We need to complement a style that makes Nicho look the same way he did this year because he’s pretty exciting. If he wears No.7 or No.6, I’m not going to change the way he plays.

I reckon we might be wasting the development of either Metcalf or Trindall with Moylan playing in the halves.

But who knows, Fitz could just be bluffing everyone.

I reckon we don't even need Moylan tbh in the top 17 unless there is an injury.

Moylan creates tries, no denying that. If we have enough kicking options from all of the part time toe pokers we might just work out some kind of alchemy.
Will be an interesting season.

Maybe from lack of use .

His kicking was excellent when he come off the bench and played 6 in origin a few years ago ..
Wades kicking game might of been decent for part of a single game. But overall his general play kicking is crap. He was trialled at 6 earlier in his playing days at Cronulla, and just like when he was younger it didnt work cause of his kicking.

Graham - rank kicking play unless dabbing at the line and always injured, shouldn’t be let anywhere near the general kicking
Moylan - doesn’t kick now probably due to injury, when he did it was dabbing in behind the line, his general play kicking was always pretty bad and his kicking of late if he ever did has been crap also always injured shouldn’t be let anywhere near the general kicking
Hynes - has done very little kicking in first grade and he looks like a running half
Brailey - has put in a couple of big kicks last season but hasn’t been a general play kicker
McInnes - has been used to dab in behind the line hasn’t been a general play kicker for a number of years.

I want to be positive about next season but I don’t see how spreading the kicking out between a heap of injury prone (Wade and Moylan) and average to crap kickers is going to be successful…

What’s your solution then?
Bring in Trindall to be a marginally better kicker but worse at everything else (except I guess staying healthy) and have him get pressured relentlessly as our only kicker?

Spreading the kicking gives us more time and space for the crap kickers to get a decent kick in
