With the whole tough draw/easy draw thing, I always wonder what the team we’re playing think about playing us.

For example if you gotta play us twice, is that considered a tough or easy draw?

Fitz was at the Grand Final Luncheon yesterday, along with Jada Taylor, Tayla Preston, Tony Grimaldi, Sam Stonestreet, Andrew Dallalana and Sam McCullough.

He’s so impressive as a head coach, has the crowd hanging off every word, and just sounds like he has that right balance between being intimidating/tough and being a mentor. He said how hard it is to lose players like Royce Hunt and Jack Williams, he feels like he failed them a bit by not being able to keep them.

Listening to him speak; it really reinforces how much the current status and character of the club revolves around him.

Fitz is a great coach and we are fortunate to have him. The club is in a good spot with the way we are running our business at the moment, good time to be a supporter.

We will reap the rewards if we stay patient with Fitz and what he’s trying to build. Although I do worry that Roosters will be in for him at some point and although he is a very loyal guy, he is a life member at Roosters.

When is he contracted to? I hope we lock him down

Id like to see a change of assistants.
Ive never been a fan of Steve Price,
And id also like to see a new halves coach over Holdsworth
Price is our defensive coach and we had the second best defence in the comp this year, not sure I agree with that change personally. The grass isn't always greener with a new coach.

I know Fitz and Holdsworth are close mates so not sure he'll get dropped, though doesn't mean he needs to be the halves coach, though I thought he was more than that. Maybe just someone to work in the off season would be beneficial.

I think we could improve our wrestling and our effectiveness in tackles. I know Grimaldi is our wrestling coach but would like to see us bring in an actually pro in the business to spend a bit of time on that part of our game.

We definitely need to improve the wrestle, we never seem to properly dominate the ruck and limit opposition metres.

Id still argue our defence needs improvement.
13 games we conceeded 20 points or more, and of those 7 were by 30+

Our defensive stats are only 2nd best because we nilled poor Raiders and Titans teams, and restricted Tigers and Bunnies (16th and 17th) to 6 points at Shark Park.

Price also an assistant with us good enough to win a grand final in the past. Was also wanted by Madge for this years NSW side but we didn't release him to them.

Holdsworth is a full time assistant, he's the halves coach and our main trainer on game day. He's extremely hands on with players in training, and does some individual skills work with at least halves and hooker. Not sure about the full depth of his role. Likely helps other assistants and Fitz in game prep stuff (performance review, opposition review etc).
Has previously also been head coach of Flegg and Elite Pathways Coach but that was when he was only 2 days a week and game day with NRL side (elite pathways held formerly by John Morris, currently by Russell Aitken)

I assume Holdsworth gets a finger pointed at him by people not happy with Hynes but no credit for Trindall who he has worked with for more years?

For the most part I think from a fans perspective it's very very hard to truly tell how good a job an assistant coach (or even the coach) is doing overall. You just don't see anywhere near enough of what they do. In saying that sacking one and getting someone else could improve us. It just really is not a sure thing.

If nothing changes, nothing changes.
Thats all well and good if your Penrith atm, but i dont see Price, Hannay or Holdsworth waking up, having a lightbulb moment and reinventing theor approaches.

Im not saying change all 3 at once, that's madness, but i think a new face is needed.
Penrith have cycled through assistants as other teams cherry pick them for head roles (Webster, Ciraldo, Barrett) and they've been replaced, but have kept the good learnings of their predecessors, and added new twists ontop
