Just wondering, wat r ur thoughts on the Melbourne coach craig Bellamy? Do u dislike him or dont u mind him?

Personally, I dont like him whatsoever
1. Ive never seen him have a smile on his face which I would presume because of that hes not very friendly
2. He never gives any credit at all to opponents- players or coaches

like him or not with the exception of origin
rekon he has a great record
not sure if its him or someone else down at the storm
but they are very very good at spotting and
getting the best out of young talented players......
they seem to just roll them off a production line down here!!!!

he can coach melbourne extremely well but with all the stars they have its not hard.
He is awful at origin level, ok we won game three but it was too little too late, and he always picks his own players for origin even though they arent the best in that position eg. steve turner, anthony quinn.

he is obviously doing a great job in melbourne but i hate the fact he is origin coach. hate to say it but we need to go like qld and pick someone who doesnt coach an nrl team so there is no bias. anyone reckon freddy is up to it?

He's a good coach, no doubt about it. Look at some of the players he's raised.

I don't blame him for the NSW mishaps. It was the selectors fault (I'm looking at you Laurie Dailey, you big-nosed prick) and the lack of consistancy and effort the team put into the first two games.

In saying that however, no I don't particularly like him. :p

I dont think coaches should get credit for rising stars like Slater, Inglis, Israel etc...
Players like that would make any coach look good.

Really? Because I think a coach like Bennent should be getting full credit for how he's turned Jamie Sowards' game around.

Fact is, Bellamy's been there guiding them the whole way through. He's injected his own playing style into those guys, making them what they are. Although that does seem to include that ridiculous "fight like you're having a seizure" in getting up to play the ball whilst milking a penalty, which Slater is an absolute pro at.

Storm are a top 4 team. Bellamy is a big factor for that.

Cant wait for the honeymoon period for the Dragons to end so we can say "Bennett cant coach".
The best person to give credit for Soward's improvements is a guy named Jamie Soward.
However I'm not saying Bennett or Bellamy cant coach either.

Sort of contradicted yourself there?

However I do understand where you're coming from. Regardless of what I said in the above post (heat of the moment), of course players should be getting credit for what they've achieved and how they've improved! In saying that, I believe the coach should be recieving almost equal credit for assisting in that increase of performance. A coach is there to guide a player.

And Bennett would have to be the best coach in the NRL, undeniably. Look at the Broncos since he departed. They're not threatening as they once were. Now look at the Dragons. They're not wooden spoon contenders anymore, they're on the road to minor-premiership. The range of stars he's raised/mentored, such as Lockyer and Soward.

I'm not praising, but merely showing what a coach is capable of.

Anyway, end of rant. ;)

Wayne Bennett never smiles much either, but hey he is a proven premiership winning coach, Bellamy is the same.
First grade coaching is a tough gig.

Have to be honest Bungy, Stg/Ill have that 06 Broncos look to them, i think that they will win the GF, doesn't matter though their supporters will still be just as obnoxious as they have always been :lmao

I don't care about either Bellamy or Bennett.

I just want the Dragons to Choke into an epic fail come September, than I will be happy with 2009.

Compare Ricky to Bennett. Ricky is always praising the players and it seems he is a part of the team, he gets pissed off at any moment the team does and he is happy when the team is. This is both good and bad. Bennett is expressionless and he seems detached. The best comparison is that he is a major shareholder in the team, but he doesn't go ahead and ride the emotional rollercoaster. It is great to see that Ricky is happy when we are doing well, as it shows the team has made him proud. The flip side is that he gets pissed off when we stuff up. The only problem with this is that the players see him do this and naturally they will feel negative about the situation. If your coach doesn't believe in you, then you can't do much except feel the same way about yourself, and naturally become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The key thing to take away from this is that I think Ricky may need to show less regret when we stuff up the smaller things.

Back in 1999 I was a Broncos scholarship holder and Bellamy was the head trainer of the Broncs. We had a week long camp where we did pre-season training with the senior side, and man I can tell you Bellamy was one tough asrsehole. But a good trainer, very good motivator. As a bloke he didn't seem to bad, yet again that was 10 years ago so I guess things may have changed!

I thought you'd say that. I said "we" not "me".

probably agree with most of that so far.

I remember when Bennett was considered too old, past it and not wanted by Broncos fans when they were losing game after game about 7-8 years ago. Did that make him a bad coach? Then when they started winning again suddenly he's a good coach again? The Broncos will always have good players cause they get 3rd party payments because they're in a 1 team city regardless of who's the coach, so that would of helped Bennett too. My point is if a team is winning the coach is a good coach but if they're losing then he is a bad coach until the team starts winning again. Look at Ricky Stuart's coaching career up down up down lets hope up again soon.

We had that look last year too and we didn't have Bennett as coach.
