Cronulla's Corey Hughes to be allowed to go out on own terms against South Sydney

SHARKS coach Ricky Stuart would let Corey Hughes play for "one minute" on Saturday if need be to give the retiring hooker a proper send-off.
The premiership-winning former Bulldog had to have painkillers injected into his ribs just to get through last Sunday's heartbreaker against Manly and may struggle to get through his final match. But that's of no concern to Stuart, who is desperate to give his one-time teammate a fitting farewell.
"I don't care if he plays one minute or 80 minutes," Stuart said. "This is a bloke who deserves to finish on his own terms. He deserves to be shown the respect for the great career he has had. I just want to see him on the field for his last game."
Affectionately known as "Smack", Hughes has played 232 NRL games. Hughes, the son of Bulldogs great Garry Hughes, starte his career as halfback in 1998 with the Bulldogs - and he has not been out of the top grade since.
He will play in immense pain against the Rabbitohs but don't be surprised if he manages to get through the match.
Hughes has proved to be one tough competitor throughout his career and we wish him the best in his final game and with life after football.
