He had a great 2018. We needed a depth half for next season and Tracey is one of the best running around in either state comp. 10/10 signing by Bomber.

He was quite impressive for Souths in his debut game this year IIRC. His running game was excellent

Haven’t actually seen him - does anyone have any thoughts on how he would pair with Johnson? Can he do the controlling and be the first receiver?

No. He’s a 6. Great running game but he’s not a 7. If you want to hitch your wagon to a young 7 it should be Trindall.

Guess I need to hope for Trindall to step up then as I prefer Johnson in 6

Trindall is actually pretty good. There was talk of some off field drama. which is not great. From a footy POV though he’s a better player now than he was at the start of the year... which is exactly what you hope for given he is 19.

If this guy is a 6 - perfect because I want SJ in the 7 as first receiver on both sides . I don't agree with the garbage that he needs a 'controlling' half with him .

If we had a dominant (or good) halfback we could afford the luxury of having Johnson pick his moments, but I agree with you. He has shown the game management skills at times this season, has a good boot on him and by the time the ball gets to him out wide the opposition are already all over him.

Touching the ball a bit more at 7 will still mean he can pick his moments. It's just that those moments will be spotting tired, lazy forwards, rather than when Chad decides to pass him the ball.

Posted this under the email from Dino is the 2020 NRL General Discussion threat but it got moved before I clicked send so I deleted my post and moved it here instead.

Interesting that Dino says Connor is "set to push for round one selection" with Blayke saying he has also been doing some training at hooker.
Connor also played both 9s games (unlike Trindall and Blayke). Two trials to go but I wonder if there is a chance we could see him in a #14 to start the season.

Shame for all the Chad haters he is a 6...

Sounds like Blayke may not start the season playing 80 mins..?
