Official Cameron McInnes

I love the guy but imo he isn’t a starter anymore, he would benefit massively missing the opening 20 minutes.
He isn’t effective early on and gets dominated in attack and defence by big fast fresh middles.
We need more muscle in the opening of games, then let Cam come on and use his fast hit ups and play the balls around the ruck and his defensive work load to keep the middle tight like he did last year when coming on.

Dale doesn’t retire and that’s exactly how this blokes used

Said this yesterday we should have started Williams last night and had Cam on the bench.

I want Sifa to be our starting lock next year and lose his utility roll.
Get him firing in the pigs with his cousin pushing each other.

I've always thought Sifa would be a great lock. The guy's a Raptor... Let's see him scheme away in the middle

He might be a leader / professional at training and how to conduct yourself off the field .
But Fins Up Boys saying we should move him on .
Whilst being a great defender , tenacious and role model .
He's not necessary the best Captain/Leader on the field and doing those 4th tackle hit ups ( Like Gal used to do ) doesn't always serve us (at least Gal made metres )
I tend to agree , BUT who would Captain if he wasn't ? Brailey ?
I wouldn't want Nicho as stand alone Captain either , just want him to focus on his game .

Oh well that settles that then.

He's our best captain/leader on the field and with the amount of experience we've lost I can't see him going anywhere. There's no obvious replacements at the moment imo.

Gut feel is we'll sign him for another 2 years on similar money to what he is now.

Yeah I expect two years about the same
Maybe a year or two with reducing cost afterwards, but could def see it as just the two also

He would also bring a stack of benefits off the field as well. Training, discipline etc.

I have no issue with his captaincy or leadership on the field. He's calm and composed and leads by example.

I don't think he had the most effective season from the eye test, though, particularly running the ball, so I found some stats to review. All the below are average per game except the 4 referenced otherwise. Bold is for the top 3 in a category.

The last category balances out their involvement per minute (run, tackle, line engagement, pass).

First, holy **** Yeo is a beast. Top 3 in every category except tackles and one on one tackles and that's probably because the penrith system just doesn't require it from him. All round freak.

For McInnes, his work rate is high, and I'd expect that if he played the extra 10 minutes that Yeo/Carrigan/Jurbo do he'd be close to top 3 in most categories too. His stats show pretty well against this list with him having the 3rd fewest minutes.

With that said, I still wouldn't be rushing to resign him, especially not on an upgrade. I could get around 1 more year at his current rate, with potentially a reduction the following year. I don't want us to have another Finucane situation where his output isn't matching expectations. His off field and standards benefits are obvious though, and have been covered by others.

It also says that any other potential lock in our system needs to have a high, effective defensive workload and be able to link in our attacking structure at first receiver like Cam. I was previously thinking about Talakai at 13, but I don't think he's either of those things at this stage, and Colquhoun is still a way off as he'll be coming back from another serious injury.

No way we should release him. I would extend him to be honest. However after next season think he needs to be moved between starting & bench. Him starting should be dependent on the team we're playing. He should not have started against Penrith last week however teams who have those smaller packs i say 100% he starts against them.

I don’t think Cam is the type of bloke to play on to long.
He is an extremely smart guy and assume he has been smart with his money and post football career plans.
I don’t think he will play anywhere else and a good chance next year is his last if not 2026.
