This week: Aaron Woods
Why? The only two players who played eighty in the middle were Woods and Brailey. Of those, the front rower playing 80 in those conditions is the more impressive feat and the far bigger change from his regular minutes.
Woods vs Dragons: 2 stints of 23 minutes, with ~55 minutes rest in between
Woods vs Raiders: 1 stint of 30 minutes and a stint of 15 minutes, with ~45 minutes rest in between
Woods vs Eels: 80 minutes
The stat line according to NRL.com:
- 80 minutes
- 16 runs for 146 metres
- 48 tackles, 2 misses, 2 ineffective tackles
- 3 errors
Also - take nothing away from the other forwards (Rudolf and Hamlin-Uele) who each spent 40 in the middle and 40 playing on the edge. Great effort and work rate by both of those players while out of position!

Here's a quick review of Woods' first 20 minutes:
A solid if unspectacular first 20 from Woods in attack. He had a few runs a few lead runs, he popped one really nice offload that lead to a half opportunity and had a good involvement at first receiver for a long shift to the left.
Defensively he was also solid. They didn't send a lot of traffic his way but he is more a a "stay in the channel" middle forward than a guy who follows the ball side to side looking to make a million tackles. He did his job well in that regard. There were probably a couple of misses or ineffective tackles attributed to him, but they were moreso "bounced off Woods as someone else got them" situations. He did get called out of play (offside) by the ref once, but it had no impact on play because the Eels went the opposite direction.
One mistake for Woods in this period. His tackle gets up high on Moses. Not much in the penalty tbh. Moses was trying to duck under him, the tackle had to be made so I'd prefer giving up the penalty to having Moses slip under him and score.
Some decent play the balls from Woods in this period, especially before kicks and shifts. They used him a lot more on late tackles than they normally do.

At this point...
- Moses should have been sent to the sin bin in the 5th minute for being offside on the Nikora quick tap (he was back only 5m ffs)
- Sharks have completed on 8 from 8 possessions (stats say 10 from 10 "sets" because they got a tackle 1 set-restart and a tackle 2 penalty)
- The score is 4-all
- Poor numbering up by the left edge on the first try. Uele was close enough that he could have come across to help, but Tracey has his back to the play the ball, doesn't call for help until it is too late, and the Eels get an easy 3 on 2

- In the 20th minute, the Sharks come out of trouble, Townsend puts a great clearing kick down over Sivo's head into the corner and the Eels have it on tackle one 10m out from their own line; Nikora is involved in the tackle and is then called off for a HIA
The full breakdown will start at 19:50 when Nikora left the field (i.e. the moment things got a whole lot harder for the Sharks' middles)
