With the recent news that he has re-signed through 2021 I think we all agree it is time for Bronson Xerri to get his own thread.

A bit of background on Xerri for those who don't already know much about him.

- He is primarily a left centre, but has played a little bit of right centre. I have seen some reference to him having played wing in the past but it definitely hasn't been in the last couple of seasons
- He's a local junior (Aquinas Colts)
- His name is pronounced like "sherry"
- He's born in 2000, which means he was still eligible for the SG-Ball (U18) competition this season.
- His rep honours include:
* NSW U16 team at age 14
* NSW U18 team at age 16
* Australian Schoolboys team at age 16
* NSW U20 team at age 17

In 2018 he has:
- Pushed Isaac Lumelume to the wing (Lumelume was a NSW U20 origin rep last year)
- Played in an NRL trial game
- Carved up the Jersey Flegg (20's) comp
- Made his NSW Cup debut, scoring 3 tries and having a 4th disallowed
- Played in both the U18 and U20 origin games
- Been named to the Australian Schoolboys a second time, but declined to concentrate on the off season with the full time NRL squad

Here's an interview from after his Jets debut.

There are lots of highlights of Sharks junior games to be found on the web, but here is a very recent one wear the Sharks destroyed North Sydney and Xerri (#4) and Lumelume (#19) each had a big day out (starts at 4:36). The other centre (Ferris) had a couple of nice tries in this game too.

Came off in the second half of yesterday's game. Saw him limping a bit after the game so might be a bit of a precautionary thing. I saw Flanno come down to watch some of the game and you can tell he was looking for him on the field only to see he was on the bench. He turned around and went up the tunnel.

He's a big unit that's for sure, not just for his age but in general. Flanno loves a big body centre and I'm sure we'll see him get a few games next year.

The 20's rested players last week too - positions 1-3 were decided 2 weeks ago. Hopefully Xerri is OK.

Burgo, how do you rate him against Noodle at a similar age?

Ramien was playing for Manly at 18 (in 2015) so he wasn't on my radar. He only came over to the Sharks mid season 2016 (he was turning 19 that year) and missed a fair bit of that season injured too.

As for a comparison on paper, Ramien did play up in NYC at 18 and made the NSW U18 team so they are following a similar path there - though Ramien didn't debut in the NSW Cup until 2 years later.

Xerri has always projected as a future star; Ramien was seen as a good chance of being a first grader, and then had an outstanding 2016-17 pre-season and was seen as too good for NYC after a month of footy in 2017.

Ramien’s brother was actually supposed to be coming over with him from Manly - I’m not sure what happened there.

If we're talking about his younger brother Brydon, he's been playing for Ourimbah this year

That’s him. Back when Jesse switched there was talk that both brothers were coming to the Sharks, but I don’t think Brydon ended up ever playing for us in NYC.

What are Xerri's biggest faults/weaknesses in his game? Could he be ready to play in the Sharks 1st grade team next year if he gets called upon? Is he team oriented or "me" focused?
