Nikora's fancy stats - 2023

Interesting trend here. Nikora isn't usually a heavily involved player, but he does a lot of memorable stuff (scoring tries etc.).

If you compare him to Teig, he takes far fewer runs, far fewer runs inside his half, makes less tackles, misses a similar amount, and makes more errors but he takes a lot more runs in the attacking end and has about 20% more positive attacking involvement (offloads, setting up outside men, line breaks, etc.)

Also Nikora does a lot of valuable lines in attacking 20 which benefit others too.
Not that Teig never runs any lines but Nikora is one of the NRL best at it

Of course, but we are not measuring that here. Just pointing out the very different styles. Nikora does a lot of noticeable stuff, but Teig does more stuff overall. Both players are providing a lot of value to the team. The gap between them is far less than what the average fan thinks it is.

Sounds like a good partnership, one does the hard work no one wants, the other does the pretty stuff. Both are very important to be successful, keen to see these 2 go up another gear next season

Wilton was looking pretty darn good running off Moylan earlier on. Interesting to see if the back goes his way with the new halves pairing

His manager won’t just rollover for us.
He will know his worth and advise his client accordingly

Yep I do fear he will be one we will lose. We wont be able to match rival offers once they come, so its either bank on loyalty/“believes in what fitz is building to” or resign to losing him.

I think we can and will keep Nikora on a fair deal
Can’t imagine Fitz letting one of the best edge players walk and Nikora has every reason to want to stay I’d think

While everyone recognises his quality I think he’s not quite enough of an X factor anyone would try blow us out of the water with an huge offer

Olakau'atu is reportedly on about 900k. I think Brit is worth a bit less than him. 750/800k should get it done, and I think we should be able to afford that.

That was a pretty long deal though, he may well have cost more on say a three year deal.
