Sam Tomkins is a star guys. Think Preston Campbell at 7 for us when he won the Dally M. Tomkins is at that level. This is after only 2 seasons at professional level rugby league.

Yeah i dont think anyone is denying his' ability , just dont want to get tied up in a pipe dream, not buy a good half, get absolutely smashed as per this season, than miss him next season anyway.

has anyone heard of the latest on Noddy Kimmorley, is he pulling the pin or playing on & if so who?

Is still weighing up his offers. He was at the Sharks game vs the Roosters so hopefully seeing us play and get a win may help but realistically I am sure it would have no bearing. I assume he was only there to watch his daughter/s.

BULLDOGS halfback Brett Kimmorley has called time on his illustrious 15-year NRL career.

The former Test halfback knocked back offers from the Canberra, Parramatta and his former club Cronulla before reaching the agonising decision.

Kimmorley, 33, is considered one of the game's great survivors, beginning his career with Newcastle as a teenager before playing with the Hunter Mariners, Melbourne Storm, Northern Eagles, the Sharks and most recently the Bulldogs.

He will continue his work in the media with Fox Sports while also taking up a coaching role with the Canterbury club for the next two seasons with an eye on one day becoming an NRL coach.

The champion halfback will formally announce his decision at a media conference called by the Canterbury club today.

Kimmorley will join teammate Luke Patten, who is bound for the UK Super League, in farewelling Bulldogs fans on Monday night in their final home game at ANZ Stadium against the Panthers.

Bulldogs halfback Brett Kimmorley has announced that the 2010 NRL season will be his last so that he can easily transition into a coaching career.

Kimmorley says he made the decision last Thursday to accept a two-year assistant coaching role at the Bulldogs under head coach Kevin Moore and assistant Jim Dymock.

In doing so, he turned down at least six offers to extend his playing career by one more year.

The 33-year-old will play his final game in round 26 against Manly at Brookvale Oval.

"It's a very big decision in my future and quite a hard decision to come to," Kimmorley said on Thursday.

"Today is a bit of a sad day."

The veteran half thanked all six NRL clubs who he represented in his 16 years at the top but reserved special praise for his Melbourne, Cronulla and Australian coach Chris Anderson.

"Trust between a coach and a player is really important and we struck a really good friendship," Kimmorley said.

Kimmorley nominated Andrew Johns and Darren Lockyer as the two greatest players he had ever played with.

Some of our fans didn't for some reason.

I remember going to a game in 2007 and a mate(he is/was a Sharks fan, very fairweather though) I went with booed Noddy despite the fact he played for his own team.

Yeah thats a bit harsh. I used to think he was average i think i was still a bit bitter about campbell but in 2008 kimmorley was awesome i was really sad to see him go!!!

I'll admit it took a while for me to warm to him and get over the fact he squeezed out Presto. Wasn't really until his last season that I think he really played his best and had the outstanding kicking game in 08 season.
As a coach I'd rather Prichard on my books though.

I think we were all a bit cheesed off with Presto being forced out of the club(I still regard that as the biggest blunder we have ever made) but I too was upset to see Noddy go and we haven't been anywhere near the same since.

I really hoped we were going to sign him but it says he turned us down so not much more we could have done. Is a shame and a surprise as he said a couple of weeks ago he wanted to play on. We should do ok without him though with all our average halves, plus he would have only been an expensive short-term solution.
