Or boot it dead and give them second tackle sets.

Hindsight is a lovely thing. Fact is, he was left to be the dominant half and his job in the last twenty was to manage the team home to a victory. Him getting tackled on the last 3m out from the line, 12 points up with 15 min to go is a high percentage play.

I think it’s fair to say he had the management of the game at the forefront of his mind rather than chasing more points. I’ll take that with a 21 year old half with a handful of games under his belt. His decision making in those situations will become more polished with time.

and opposing coaches will notice that. It means that they'll always be half expecting him to run the ball on the 5th, which opens up more options later

I can't agree mate. With that lead he needed to have been looking for repeat sets at every opportunity. Our sets were also pretty disorganised, which isn't totally his fault but he didn't step in to fill the void there.

I'm not sure if he has ever been an organising seven, and it totally makes sense to me that they're looking to have Hynes play there based on what I've seen of Trindall in that role. He might get better, but he's not a natural.

He'll just keep getting better and better with this first grade experience he's gaining this year .
Come 2022 with a Fitz off season behind him , WATCH OUT

he’s good foil for a good half, doesn’t lack anything and is improving his defence too - way too young and inexperienced to be doing it on his own like he ended up in the 2nd half. I love that he wants to take the line on, good quality to have in a half

A game like that would do his skill set and game for the better

It seemed like he felt he needed to be the one that had to manage the game for us and also create the points - they were coming after us that’s why he I think he might’ve took them on instead of potentially kicking it dead.
repeat sets is first, tackled with ball in their 10 is second kicking it dead is worst and at least he didn’t give them repeat sets he would’ve got crucified for that

Trindall is probably not too far behind where Kennedy was at this time last year, and look how he has improved.

Hope one of the wounded halves scrubs up for next week because Tracey just doesn't seem to have a decent pass in him.

Passed it to Talakai pretty nicely.
But I know what you mean he’s had a few dodgy ones. Thing about today’s shocker is Johnson did very similar in first half but Katoa stayed wide and got the bounce, scored. Tracey does same **** pass but Ronnie is in a bit and it goes out. Not saying it is Ronnie fault as still a **** pass but Katoa hugging his line made very similar bad pass from SJ into a try

I thought he went alright. Was good to see us with a half that is going to try and break them through the middle with a running game and not just pass every single time he has the ball like Johnson. Yes he had a couple of Barry’s when he should of grubbered but he def looks more dangerous then I thought he was capable of.

I liked Trindalls runs close to the line. backs himself, his legs work (unlike more expensive halves on our books) and is quite evasive and fleet footed for a porky sortay stock guy. look at the bright side, he beat multiple defenders and it took a nice dogs tackle to save him from scoring on at least one of those occasions

it's refreshing after watching Chad beat one defender twice over a season with a slow and go and Shaun better at passing than running these days

if our defense was any scratch we would have murdered the dogs coming out of their end off their own try line after the change over

let's also keep in mind with the exception of 1 pass to Talakai Tracey did nothing to help him. don't know why Tracey is considered a half, he is crap there yet Trindall didn't look to palm the responsibility and problem off to someone else

I know Trindall wasn't perfect and heaps for him to learn and improve but there is a good player here with time on his side and that goal kicking as well wow

for perspective check out alot of the other young green halves running about for other teams, alot of them are really struggling

I can only see Trindall getting better, his goal kicking is no-nonsense too, kicks are straight and clean.

Yep, and he's going to get some good experience whilst SJ is out. Personally I don't want to rush out and get another half back till they've seen him for a few more games. Even wait till next year to get a halfback if he doesn't cut it.

Trindall has everything you want in a half he’s just (obviously) not the complete package yet.

I have very high hopes for him. 15 odd games of experience this year and another off season he has what it takes. Tough little bugger too always gets his body in front in D unlike some halves we have.

I like the guy, I just think we need a first choice half for one or two years, with Trindall being the 14 or in case of injuries or suspensions.

Yep I've changed my opinion of him.

Even though he seemed to not do so well in the second half I can forgive him for that because we had lost SJ and he probably felt he needed to do it all.

I do like how he is not afraid to take the line on, any lazy defenders close to the line will be exposed and he does have the strength and toughness to carry defenders over the line. Not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Not sure what's taken me so long to see the good side of him.

However, despite all that, we can't think that he's going to be our saviour at 7.

He could be but it's too early to tell.

Gives you the impression Trindall is right in the mix for that 7 and question rumours of Brooks imo.

If we have learnt anything from recent transfers to us the fact the media think we are after Watson and Brooks suggests we aren't

I believe in the Watson one more, but think with Finucane and McInnes he might have been a plan B perhaps. And Knights have been starting him the last few weeks, whether that's due to injuries or to see how he goes, make him want to stay I'm not sure. Frankly I don't watch many Knights games, mostly flick on to check they're losing, smile and watch something else.
