I'm unsure if Trindall has been playing any full games lately, he seems to continually be on the bench or a back-up to NRL?

There's a lot of talk around Reynolds coming, add Townsend and Johnson in the mix and our halves are older/aging players that could cause us trouble in year or two. Was hoping to have this guy was really tested this year as to if he's capable of being a good regular first grader.

He's played 4 games for Newtown.

I can't speak to the other games, but he was pretty ordinary against North Sydney other than a nice pass to setup the second Metcalf try.

The commentators even noted that the Newtown coach was blowing up after one of Trindall's kicks. It was a crazy windy day though - so it was a tough day for kickers.

Thanks mate, I also got a similar response on another thread.

Reckon he goes ok, if we look like finishing lower than 10th 4/5 games out from finals, i would be starting him. He is a good player IMHO.

Made some pretty poor reads and dead set killed a few good chances. I feel like there's a footballer in there, but I haven't seen it yet

Needed to be a little calmer in his decision making, seemed a little nervous and just wanted to be the hero, hopefully he learns and doesn’t get thrown in with 20 minutes left to try and win the game

100%, came on too late. Cldnt settle, had to rush and be panicky, try off own bat as you say.

Didn't pick up panicked at all. More deliberately running the ball a lot.

There's a very real possibility that Hanney is acting under instructions from Fitz to test out a few things. Like Chad staying out of the attack, WK getting more ball and Trindall's running game. Our plan against the Dogs was disfunctional, so I'm happy if my brain accepts that uninformed rationale as fact

You do know running the ball can also be a panic play right ?

Anyone would be nervous if it’s their first game back in first grade in ages, young and in a spine position behind on the score board with just 20 mins left.

Now, I'll say right up front that I've never played the game at all, but in my almost 50 years of watching the game, I can't see how you would describe running the ball as a panic play. Maybe you are forced to run the ball when nothing else is on but I wouldn't say that was panicking.

To be honest your perspective wouldn’t be that relevant or relative, I can tell you sometimes running the ball Is a panic play instead of passing it/not knowing what to do with it.

Think of players panicking when a player you want to pass to is marked or you are a forward who’s just made their first line break in their career and you panic and do something stupid instead of just passing it.

It happens

Ok I can understand that but I wouldn’t call Trindall running the ball on Saturday night as a panic play. To me, he was trying to make things happen.
