Cheers @Walley_01

club’s decision to put the 24-year-old in a rehab facility from Monday morning to get professional help.

The Sharks feel it is an encouraging sign that he has enthusiastically agreed to the treatment.

Trindall also has the full backing of the playing group.

While they are disappointed in his actions, they are determined to support him.

Some good reading here

Def not the first time he’s been caught then, just must have been internal only before

(Okay well maybe not definitely, but seems likely)

Doing it in season, probably goes to show what many suspected, there's a bigger problem there - hopefully he gets the help he needs. Seems like the Sharks have his back.

Could be as much an optics thing as anything. I wouldn't immediately assume there's a bigger issue.

It’s a hell of a move to get put in rehab if you don’t need it for the optics

For the rest of his life he’s a bloke who went to rehab for (presumably) a drug problem - don’t really see much of an optics advantage there

maybe, but also this is the classic “remorse” tactic.

It gives the appearance of a man whos deeply sorry and deeply troubled to reduce the severity of his punishment.

Hope he gets some help, at the very least to make better choices

Yeah I was thinking this could be part of it. Y dropping him early and him going to rehab they’re potentially getting ahead of any mandated punishment by the NRL and could be seen as favourable by the courts too

100% its what it is. For the club to send him to rehab means either they were aware of problems for sometime but let it all go until there was an incident. Or they are using it as damage control.

Or they were aware of an issue but believed him it was under control and this proved it wasn’t.

Or they didn’t know there was an issue but in speaking to him it became apparent there was one.

I think it's a bit rough if the NRLs punishment doesn't include time already served (due to Sharks standing him down)

Otherwise clubs might as well keep playing players and just let the NRL deal with it.

Article is suggesting NRL considering 4 to 5 week ban

So what is the reason for the lack of coverage of this?

I doubt its because we have a good PR team or the media are being nice to us.

All I can think of is because of the legal implications surrounding the 2nd drug test.

I don’t know, I think Dino has a good relationship with Vlandys and Riccio. Fitz seems to have a good image and respected by the media.

Sharks aren’t an easy target like we used to be, Sharks bankrupt and losing sold papers. I don’t think people really care about us as much now we aren’t broke or cellar dwellers.
