Fellow Sharks supporters,
As a local Tyrepower store owner and dedicated long term fan of the Sharks I was concerned to read your comments regarding Tyrepower and I would like to inform you of the facts. Firstly, discussions between Tyrepower and the Sharks are continuing in the hope of exploring possible outcomes that will benefit both parties. Unfortunately many customers throughout our stores have questioned our support of the Sharks given the current reports in the media. The final decision will be made from our head office, who represents the best interest of all 250 stores throughout Australia.
It’s important to be aware that each Tyrepower store is individually owned and operated. Both the Kirrawee and Taren Point stores are strong proud supporters of the Cronulla Sharks and have done so for the past 8 years through their own individual store funds and have every intention of continuing to do so in the future. They have also been strong supporters of local rugby league teams for the past 15 years including St Patricks, Como and Bosco among many other local community groups.
As long term dedicated Sharks fans we are devastated and deeply concerned about the longevity of the club, however please rest assured that both of the local Tyrepower stores will individually continue to support the Sharks.
Thank you David.
I, like many other Sharks supporters, feel that it is extremely unfair that our club is being punished for the behaviour of some individuals seven years ago.
It is grossly unfair that our club and supporters (some of which have supported the club for 40 plus years) are tarred with the same brush, and it is the current club and not the individuals involved that are now copping the fallout from this incident.
In the end, it is the fans and local community that suffer. All of the players that were involved in the incident have since moved on. This incident does not hurt them at all. Withdrawing sponsorship from the current club does nothing. The players involved are professional footballers and to be quite honest, probably don’t give a damn about the Sharks anymore.
Most fair minded people can see that these previous incidents are not a reflection of the current club culture. The club’s recent record of dealing with indiscretions (Bird and Seymour) should be a clear indication that the Sharks do not condone violent or anti-social behaviour. I know that Ricky and the boys work tirelessly for local charities and community groups in the area.
The club is now in it’s darkest hour and we desperately need corporate support. As a fellow Sharks supporter I thank you for your continual support of the club and I urge you to do anything possible to convince the people at head office that the Sharks are a good organisation and worth supporting.
The Sharks will get through this tough period and the companies that stand by us will be considered as “corporate heroes” by the people of the shire. To be honest, standing by the Sharks at this time would be far more beneficial for any company’s corporate image than cutting and running. Sharks’ fans are in for the long haul, I hope that the corporates are too.
